Barack Obama to give up 5% of salary in show of solidarity over cuts

us president

Kiyo: Barack Obama will return 5% of his salary to the US treasury in a show of solidarity with federal workers affected by $85bn in government-wide spending cuts.
The 5% that Obama will hand back mirrors the 5% cut that domestic agencies took when the reductions went into effect.
Currently, every federal agency is grappling with spending cuts, which the White House has said could affect everything from commercial flights to classrooms.
A 5% cut from the president's salary of $400,000 (£265,000) a year amounts to $20,000.

Filo: Obama is not the first president to extend such gesture, John F Kennedy once donated his presidential salary to various charities, just call it leadership by example. With this news I know you are thinking if it is worth it queuing all day for visa, Kiyo, it appears the grass over there is not so green after all.

Pregnant Kim Kardashian busting out in a VERY revealing maxi dress

kim kardashian

Filo: Kim Kadoso, sorry, Kim Kardashian continued to push fashion boundaries on Wednesday when she made a stop for frozen yoghurt in a very revealing cream maxi dress.
The 32-year-old reality show star was recently forced to respond to criticism of her maternity style.
'I saw some comments that the skirt is too tight for the pregnancy and that’s ridiculous! I bought this skirt a few sizes bigger and there is plenty of room.'
'For any concern that my clothes are too tight, I have so many pieces custom fit for my growing body!' she said.

Kiyo: So it was the criticism that informed the maternity gown! Nice though and I think she’s really pregnant, at least mammary glands don’t lie.

Former Eagles defender, Taribo West accused of lying about his age

Kiyo: The former Inter Milan strongman Taribo West, has been accused of reducing his age by as much as 12 years when he joined Partizan Belgrade in 2002.
The former defender, renowned for his colourful hairstyle is said to have been 40 years old when he joined the Serbian team in 2002 though he claimed he was 28 years old.
Zarko Zecevic, former Partizan president made this claim in a report published by the Daily Mail.
“He joined us saying he was 28. We only later found out he was 40, but he was still playing well so I don’t regret having him on the team,” Zecevic told Daily Mail.

Filo: Somebody is obviously missing a thing here; a 40 year old that looks like 28, plays like 28, talks like 28, is he not 28 in his mind?

Norwegian students get exams postponed due to Bieber Concert

Bieber in Norway Concert 2012

Kiyo: Five schools in western Norway have rescheduled their midterm exams to allow students to attend upcoming Justin Bieber concerts in the capital, the country's Ministry of Education and Research said Wednesday.
The Canadian pop star is scheduled to perform in the Norwegian capital on April 16 and 17 -- stoking fears that some students in remote schools will skip midterm exams scheduled to take place at the same time.
Bieber is extremely popular in the Nordic country, where his free concert in Oslo last year resulted in dozens of injuries as teenage girls fought to get better glimpses of the 19-year-old icon.

Filo: This is truly Bieber Fever, but you know, such don’t happen in Africa.
Here we believe you cannot eat your cake and have it; you go to Bieber concert, F9 is your portion by default.

Insulting P-Square was childish – Bandana tells Samini

Bandana, Ghana

Kiyo: Charles Nii Armah Mensah Junior popularly known in Ghana showbiz as Bandana thinks it was childish for Samini to have done a song to diss the duo. He says it will be difficult to defend in the law court that P-Square stole our Azonto.
He said in an interview with Flex newspaper that the ‘Alingo’ dance is on its own just as ‘Azonto’. “There is this saying that pay attention to your interior matters. Any time I do music that has something to do with him (Samini) he doesn’t reply but saw it necessary to respond to P-Square. He has painted a bad picture about Ghana,” he noted.

Filo: Alingo is the alpha version of Azonto; almost twisted my ankle trying to learn the Alingo dance step.  Meanwhile, Bandana please try resolve your beef with Samini.

Filo: Chief Executive of Waa Gba Clothier, Wole Shodipe-Dosunmu said the slogan has increased sales at Wa a Gba greatly while maintaining that more orders for T-Shirts carrying My Oga at the Top,’ inscription is the order of the day for his business. For Wole, the whole thing actually started as a joke on the social media. But it became financially rewarding when the idea to meet an instant need of so many clients came to him.
“You can’t imagine the sales I have made. It started around 12 noon on that day; I designed a specimen and used the picture as my BlackBerry display picture, immediately clients showed interest. At first, I sold more than 200 pieces in just four hours, after which they kept on ordering for more”.

Kiyo: Apologies to those who prayed for ‘Oga @ d Top’ shibboleth to die a natural death, it seems there is no end to the slogan for now. So painful others are benefitting from the man’s misery

Filo: Seriously I don’t expect our Oga at the top to say this in public; but now that Boko Haram has turned to Ninjas, rather has activated ‘Ghost Mode’ what’s the fate of the Nigerian People?

Airport Robbery: General Overseer, Six Others Arrested

MMIA
Murtala Mohammed Int'l Airport

Filo: The Lagos State Police Command has arrested the gang of robbers, who attacked the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja on March 13, killing two policemen and injuring several others.
The robbers were also said to be the same bandits, who attacked a Bureau De Change last year at the same airport, carting away dollars valued at over N600 million.
Among the suspects in police custody is one Pastor Ibikunle Olanrewaju John, the General Overseer of The Way of Joy’ church. The church is located in the Ikotun-Egbe area of Lagos State.

Kiyo: I like the name of the church, the way of joy for the GO is the way of robbery. But thumbs up to our Police men, so how much did they recover?

Filo: The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Manko, said the robbery suspects were caught after detectives attached to the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS), recovered the corpse of one of the slain robbers, identified as Teslim Okunola, aka Esho, and discovered some items on him.
Items recovered from the suspects were five AK47 rifles, four dynamites, two locally made pistols, 64 AK47 magazines, all loaded with 30 rounds each, totalling 1,920 live ammunitions.

RICK ROSS: More Problems over Lyrics Controversy

Kiyo: A petition has been launched demanding that major sports brand Reebok discontinue using Rick Ross in their advertising, following his use of a lyric referencing date-rape.
Over 50 thousand people have called for him to be banned, though the rapper has spoken out to defend himself, saying rape is not something he ‘condones'.
The lyric in question features on Rocko’s song U.O.E.N.O and appears to have Ross rapping about drugging a woman with molly, which is slang for crystallised MDMA (Ecstasy Drug), and then having sex with her.
The questionable lyric is as follows: ‘Put molly all in her champagne / She ain’t even know it / I took her home and I enjoyed that / She ain’t even know it.’

Filo: I don’t get it, when you put molly in someone’s champagne, what would ensue.
Or maybe I should go with Kanye West who said ‘we rappers are role models we rap we don't think’

Sunday Nwankwo

Kiyo: A 10-year old girl (name withheld) who lives at Agbado Ijaiye area of Lagos, southwest Nigeria, has alleged that her father’s best friend, Sunday Nwankwo, raped her five times in two years.
Nwankwo was arraigned at the Magistrate’s Court 6, Ikeja and sent to Kirikiri Prison as he could not perfect the stringent bail conditions granted to him by the magistrate.
The accused had pleaded not guilty to the charge of defiling a minor and having carnal knowledge of her forcefully.
He was granted bail on the condition that he provides three sureties in like sum of N100,000 each, three years evidence of tax payment to the government and each of the surety must possess landed property worth N5 million.

Filo: Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are; if your best friend is a rapist, then who are you?

Kiyo: The accused was alleged to have been having sex with the little girl since she was eight years old.
Test conducted on the girl at the Orile Agege General Hospital showed that she was no longer a virgin.
The alleged illicit act was exposed when the three-year old brother of the victim told their mother that somebody used to lay his sister down when nobody was around.
Their mother became curious and questioned the girl, who later revealed that Nwankwo had been having sex with her, saying that he had slept with her five times.

Filo: This is totally unfair and unacceptable; any man with a trace of depravity should be castrated.

Pope to review Vatican bureaucracy, scandal-ridden bank

pope francis

Kiyo: Pope Francis, who inherited a Church mired in scandals over priests' sexual abuse of children and the leak of confidential documents alleging corruption and infighting in the Vatican's central administration, is mulling his options as he sets the tone for a reformed and humbler Holy See.

Filo: New pope, new plan.

Kiyo: One of the tests of his papacy will be what he does about the bank which has regularly damaged the Vatican's image over three decades and faces growing calls for reform.
Last year a European anti-money laundering body found that the bank - formally called the Institute for Works of Religion and known by the Italian acronym IOR - had failed to meet some of its standards on fighting financial crimes.

Filo: To avoid trouble, the bank should be closed.

During Thursday night's premiere at The Hub cinema in Kampala, Ukaegbu was left cursing his gods as the highly- hyped film pulled less than 100 people.
"What sort of country is this where people cannot pay Shs 50,000 to attend a movie premiere?" Ukaegbu lamented as he stared at the empty auditorium.
"I have never seen anything like this in my entire 20-year career. This is shameful to Uganda. I will never hold another premiere in Uganda. I will be taking my films back to Nigeria where people understand the value of cinema," Ukaegbu declared.

Filo: Kingsley Paul Ukaegbu; you should have asked Psquare what happened to them three months ago in Uganda. Now you want to bring the film back to us in Naija, no way.
For record purpose, Kingsley is now officially the second fellow in the entertainment biz that has vowed never to return to Uganda, still counting!
