NYSC member kidnapped in Lagos, ₦10 million ransom demanded [PICS]
The Lagos State Police
Command has commenced investigation into the kidnap of a 29-year-old National
Youth Service Corps member, Ayobami Jaiyeola.
Relatives of the victim told
newsmen that she was last seen while leaving her elder sister’s house at
Dideolu Estate in the Oniru area of the state in the evening of Friday last
week.
When our correspondent
visited the victim’s home on Wednesday, family and friends thronged the place
to commiserate with her mother.
A relative of the victim,
who craved anonymity, said Ayobami left her two phones and handbag behind in
the house at the time of her kidnap.
He said the matter was
initially reported as a case of missing person.

Prince hosted a listening session for his sophomore album, Fire Of Zamani at
the Hilton Sandton, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Ice Prince gave a detailed
and personal experience of each track on the album while guests were treated to
some great food and cocktails. The rapper personally autographed copies of the
FOZ album for each guest that attended the event.

solely believes that a man cannot be just friends with a woman he finds
sexually attractive. Sharon (Rukky Sanda) is an intelligent working class woman
who sees herself as a human affront to all women, totally disagrees and
believes not all men are the same.
The film is billed for early
January 2014 release.

The University of Lagos will
benefit from the European Union five-year funded research grant to the tune of
2.2 million euro.
This was contained in a
statement signed by the Deputy Registrar Information, University of Lagos,
Toyin Adebule, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in
Lagos.
The grant, which is for a
tripartite joint research project among the Universities of Lagos, Sussex in
the UK and the Kenyatta University in Nairobi, is being funded by the European
Research Council of the EU.
The project, known as The
Cultural Politics of Dirt in Africa, 1880-Present, will span five years.
The statement said: “It has
received funding from the European Research Council, an arm of the EU.

Another Baby Factory Uncovered in Imo State: Police Rescues 16 Pregnant Teenage Girls [PHOTOS]
The Imo State police command
said on Wednesday that it has uncovered another illegal orphanage popularly
referred to as ‘baby factory’.
The home which is registered
as a non-governmental organization known as Ezuma Women and Children’s Rights
Protection Initiative was used by one Dr. James Ezuma as a cover for his
heinous activities of encouraging teenage girls to get pregnant and after
giving birth, paid ₦100,000 on the condition that they would abandon their
babies.
Ezuma, a native of Ndiokeke
Ndiakunwanta in Arondizogu in Ideato Local Government Area of Imo State, was
arrested in his residence at Egbu Road, Owerri which also doubles as the
address for his NGO and paraded alongside 16 pregnant teenage girls.
Bariga APC Financial Secretary Found Dead in His Office
The All Progressives
Congress, APC, in Bariga, Lagos State was thrown into mourning on Monday when
one of its own, Pastor Abiodun Adeboyejo, popularly known as JP, was found dead
in his Akinramola Street office, Bariga, Lagos State, western Nigeria.
Until his demise, he was the
party’s Financial Secretary in that area. Some residents who spoke to PM News at
the scene of his mysterious death said he was hail and hearty on Saturday
evening when he exchanged pleasantries with friends in the vicinity.
We will not resume work, unless… – LASU Lecturers
Lagos State University
branch of ASUU has said its members would not resume duty unless so directed by
its national chapter.
The Chairman of the branch,
Dr Idris Adekunle, announced this at a news conference in Lagos on Tuesday.
Adekunle said the LASU
branch of ASUU had resolved to continue with the indefinite strike.
He said that members had
also resolved not to sign any register if the university’s management decided
to open any.
“The Congress unanimously
resolves that if for any reason the management opens any register, no member of
ASUU shall sign such.
“ASUU, particularly LASU
chapter, is as solid as ever and will not be moved by any threat.
“We are not having serious
problems with the management because we have been educating them on the
developments”, he said.

China, descended into a brawl between two women, one of whom was the bride.
According to a report on
Beijingcream, the dispute was between the wedding couple and the groom's
pregnant mistress, who had showed up at the wedding unexpectedly. Interestingly,
the mistress showed up very pregnant and in a wedding dress of her own – after
seconds of ranting, the mistress and the bride started fighting.
“You
didn't have an abortion while you could and now you come here with your big
stomach.” the bride screams.
She continued, “How do I know whose kid it is? Are you
trying to coerce us into buying you a house? Can we afford it?”

Nigerian Men Have Poor Sperm Quality – Prof Nicholas Zech
The sperm of Nigerian men is
said to be of a poor quality which accounts for an increasing rate of
infertility amongst married couples who want to have their own biological
children.
This statement was made by
Professor Nicholas Zech of the IVF Centres Prof Zech, Austria, the
World's first International Standards Organisation (ISO) certified In-Vitro
Fertilisation (IVF) centre at the opening of the new state of the art Hospital
at G.R.A, Ikeja.
"This is just an
observation we made over the last couple of years since our collaboration with
the Bridge clinic and I can trust in the data because we set the standards of
how the sperm is analysed and interestingly, compared to the European
countries. The sperm we see of patients coming into the centre are lower, the
quality is lower," he said.

How Adeyemi Ikuforiji Spent ₦25m on Wife’s Orderly, Others
An Economic and Financial
Crimes Commission’s prosecution witness, Adeniyi Adebayo, on Monday narrated
before a Federal High Court, Lagos, how the Speaker, Lagos State House of
Assembly, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, collected millions of naira in cash from the
House under various headings.
Adebayo did the narration
while continuing his testimony at the ongoing trial of Ikuforiji and his
personal assistant, Oyebode Atoyebi, for alleged money laundering.
Both Ikuforiji and Atoyebi
are being prosecuted by the EFCC for 54 counts of recieving over ₦600m from the
Lagos State House of Assembly without passing through a financial institution
between April 2010 and July 2011.
Adebayo, an EFCC investigator,
commenced his testimony on November 21, before Justice Ibrahim Buba.

Boko Haram Attacks Military Bases in Maiduguri, Five Aircrafts Razed
After almost seven months of
relative peace in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, the city came under
renewed attacks Monday by the terrorist group, Boko Haram, leading to the death
of two military personnel, 24 insurgents, the destruction of three decommissioned
military aircraft, two helicopters and property worth millions of naira, which
were burnt during the onslaught.
Owing to the siege, military
authorities and the Borno State Government slammed a 24-hour curfew on the city
and its environs.
According to residents, they
were awoken by countless bomb blasts and sporadic gunshots around 3 am, which
rented the air throughout the night.
Yaya Toure Beat Mikel Obi, Victor Moses To Win 2013 BBC African Footballer of the Year
Yaya Toure has won the 2013 BBC African Footballer of the Year award.
The Ivory Coast and
Manchester City midfielder, who had been nominated in each of the past four
years, beat Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Victor Moses, John Mikel Obi and
Jonathan Pitroipa to this year's crown.
The 30-year-old told BBC
Sport: "I think I've been nominated for five years in a row and finally
winning the award is amazing.

players in top-level international football as there are now: Aubameyang,

Enterprise Bank Sacks 150 Staff
Enterprise Bank Ltd., one of
the nationalised banks, has retrenched about 150 workers.
Checks by the News Agency of
Nigeria on Monday showed that the affected workers were part of the 250 staff
nationwide pencilled down for rationalisation.
Sources close to the bank
told NAN that the sack caught across all units of the bank.
At some of the branches on
the Lagos Island, workers who confirmed the rationalisation, said that fear and
apprehension had enveloped workers in most of the branches.
He said that the bulk of
them were living in fear as the management could call on anybody to resign.
Efforts by NAN to confirm
the reasons for the retrenchment from the banks’ management proved abortive.

the sum of ₦2m to her. The Governor invited her to his office, so that he could
personally apologise to her. In his
words, Oshiomhole said;
“Let me apologise to you for the way I spoke to you. I am very sorry
about the statement. I have also realised that even in anger, one could still
achieve the same result that he set out to without provocative outburst. I
apologise from the bottom of my heart, but sometimes you get angry when people
compromise your efforts.”
Malawian President Donates Money She Received From Nigeria To Victims of 2011 Shootings
Malawian President, Joyce
Hilda Banda has proved once again that leadership is not just about self-aggrandisement
but being responsible to the followers and the same time making needful sacrifices.
The 63-year-old leader
recently donated the sum of $75,000 to victims of July 20, 2011 shootings in
which 20 people died and several others injured in her country.
"My heart goes out to all of you who were affected by the shootings on
20 July 2011. I know you face a lot of challenges following the loss of your
loved ones some of whom were breadwinners for their families," she
said.
