Prayer saves Agagu’s family from extinction – Bishop Ogunele

The three days fasting and prayer preceding yesterday’s burial of former governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Agagu was what prevented the Agagu’s family from being completely wiped out in Thursday’s plane crash.Bishop of the coast, Anglican Communion, Ebun Oluwa Ogunele made this disclosure while delivering sermon at the ex-governor’s burial ceremony.

The corpse, which laid in a gold casket with the designer’s label of ‘Bell’ as against the one by ‘MIC’ which was involved in Thursday’s plane crash but remained intact, was brought by another undertaker, BELL Casket at about 1.30 pm and lowered into the grave at about 3.45pm amid crying and wailing by family members, relations, friends and followers. His corpse was buried at the church cemetery.

According to reports, Nollywood star, Funke Akindele has set her marriage break-up behind her and decided to embrace love again. Former Rivers Assembly Speaker, Tonye Harry, Slumps, Dies

Former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Tonye Harry, has been reported dead.

Harry was said to have died on Thursday while being flown overseas for treatment after collapsing on Monday at the Port Harcourt Club after a game of tennis.

Although the family was yet to issue a statement as at yesterday, the State Government and leadership of the assembly have issued condolence messages on the death of the former speaker and serving member representing Degema State constituency in the assembly.

A source, that would not want to be named, volunteered that Harry slumped at the Port Harcourt Club on Monday shortly after a game of tennis and was immediately rushed to a private clinic in Port Harcourt, where he was said to have been stabilised.

Tyra Banks sues wig companies for $10 million

Tyra Banks has filed a $10 million lawsuit against 10 wig companies.

The 38-year-old star who has had a number of slick hairstyles throughout the years is reportedly suing the companies for using her ''name, photograph, image, and identity'' without permission while promoting their products.

Gossip website TMZ reports that the products in question include a Yaki straight hair wig, a Tyra Banks-inspired human hair wig, which costs $300, and a Tyra Banks lace wig.

She wants to stop them from selling the hair pieces in addition to charging them for damages.

Reports reaching kiyoandfilo suggests that an Associated Airline plane carrying the body of late Agagu to Akure, has crashed in Lagos

According to NEMA, two persons have been confirmed dead – other unconfirmed reports says Gov Agagu’s son, and Deji Falae (Chief Olu Falae's first Son) were on board the crashed aircraft.

Tunde Demuren, the son of Harold Demuren, who was the immediate former Director General of the NCAA, also confirm the crash through his tweet, “some conflicting reports about who/what was onboard. Fact is, Plane crashed right after take off in Lagos… Lets wait for actual manifest,” he stated.

ASUU: FG begs Nigeria Union of Teachers to withdraw strike threat

Federal Government, yesterday, appealed to Nigeria Union of Teachers, NUT, to shelve its proposed solidarity strike with Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

The Supervising Minister of Education, Mr. Nyesom Wike, made the appeal in Abuja, at a meeting with the members of NUT on the proposed industrial action.

It will be recalled that the NUT on September 26, 2013, gave Federal Government two weeks ultimatum to honour the agreement they had with ASUU or face total shutdown of the education sector in the country.

The Minister of Labour, Chief Emeka Wogu, who was present at the meeting, said the Federal Government has already implemented 80 per cent of the 2009 Agreement they had with ASUU.

Father of 5 Demands New Virgin Wife as Divorce Settlement

Mohammed Audu, a 51-year old father of five has asked a Grade 1 Area Court sitting at Aso Pada, Nasarawa, to order his wife, Maryam Audu, a 25-year old, to marry a virgin for him.

Mohammed initially kicked against the divorce, begging the court to give him more time to sort things out with his wife. Maryam however, kicked against more time saying, "Just recently, he alleged that the children stole his ₦100,000 and he invited the police to arrest, torture and detain them"

"He also threatened to arrest me because he said I conspired with the children to steal his money"

Maryam said she could no longer stay with a man who would call the police to arrest his children and wife. She told the court that the money was later found in the husband’s wardrobe, and urged the court to separate them.

Police quiz cop caught demanding ₦10,000 bribe

Punch: The Anambra State Police Command on Wednesday said it had begun questioning the policeman attached to one of its divisions in Onitsha, caught on video demanding a bribe of ₦10,000 from a motorist.

The state conmmand’s Police Public Relations Officer, Emeka Chukwuemeka, who spoke with our correspondent on the telephone, said the outcome of the investigation would be made public as soon as it was concluded.

Chukwuemeka, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said the manner the video was shot made it easy for the authorities to identify the policeman in question.

The police spokesman, who assured members of the public that the policeman would be made to face the full wrath of the law if found guilty, said the police would not condone any acts of corruption.
