Bandits Kill RCCG Area Pastor, Cut out His Intestines

An Area Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, and a Senior Manager at the Red Star Express, a courier company, Tunde Olawuwo, has been murdered.
PM News reports that after taking his life, the attackers cut him up and placed his intestines on his chest.
It was gathered that Olawuwo was killed at about 4 am on Sunday at his residence in Magboro area of Ogun State, western Nigeria.
The killers reportedly arrived at the pastor’s house at about 2am but could not gain entrance into the house until 4am. They broke in through the window and began shooting into the ceiling where the pastor was said to have hidden.
The deceased was said to have fallen from the ceiling and was shot several times by the killers.

Soyinka’s daughter, Iyetade to be buried January 10


Iyetade Soyinka, the late daughter of Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka, will be buried next week in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
The deceased, born on June 5, 1965 and survived by a daughter, Oreofe, and a son, Adeoto, passed away on December 28, 2013 at the University Teaching Hospital, Ibadan, after a brief illness.
A statement by the family said Iyetade will be laid to rest “on Friday, January 10 in Ibadan, after a funeral service at the Chapel of Resurrection, University of Ibadan, at 11a.m. A short service of songs will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, 9 January.”
It noted that the death had brought “great sadness and an overwhelming sense of loss,” describing the deceased as a cherished daughter.
The statement further narrated that Iyetade had her early education at the Staff School of the University of Ibadan and Queens School, Ibadan. Her higher education was at the University of Ibadan, where she focused on science courses.

75-year-old Man Dies after Marathon Sex with Prostitute


A 75-year-old man, Ogueshi Nwoye (surname removed), resident in Ogbesuwe quarters in Asaba, Delta State, slumped and died at the weekend after an alleged marathon sex with a 21-year-old female school dropout at the same quarters.
Leadership reliably gathered that the lady, popularly called “Lady P”, a renowned commercial sex worker, was sent out of school for poor academic performance, after failing to pass her JSS 3 exams several times.
Leadership checks revealed that her stock in trade was to seduce more elderly men into sex romps.
Sources said that Ogueshi Nwoye, one of her admirers, was challenged to a sex bout after parting with ₦5,000, a situation that led both into some rounds of sex, which left the man gasping for breath afterwards.

Another Music Video Director Loses Dad

Just few days ago, it was reported that video director, Sesan Ogunro’s dad was killed on his way back from church – so sad. Another music video director, Mr Moe Musa has also announced the death of his father.
Moe Musa who is currently in the UK stated that the sad news occurred on Saturday, December 21, 2013 in a ‘horrific accident’ in Nigeria.

Still can’t believe it, such a sudden accident and now you’re gone, just like that. This is my Father and he passed away yesterday morning in Nigeria due to a horrific accident. May your Soul Rest in Eternal peace…..Love You Dad #CherishedEveryMoment’, Moe Musa wrote on his Instagram page as he posted a photo of himself and his dad.

Ijaw National Congress Leader, Tari Sekibo Slumps, Dies in Yenagoa


President of the Ijaw National Congress, Senator Tari Sekibo, slumped and died in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State capital, on Monday.
Sekibo, who hailed from Okrika in Rivers State, was in the state to hold a meeting with his officials when he met his death.
Reason for his slumping and eventual death could not be ascertained as of press time.
The death of the Okrika chief has thrown the state and the government into a mourning mood as the scheduled meeting was cancelled.

Father U Turn’s Death: Controversy Over Real Cause of His Demise


It was reported yesterday that popular singer Femi Sylvester Mayomi a.k.a Father ‘U’ Turn has died. According to online reports, the singer was killed in a car accident at Okokomaiko, Lagos, where he resided.
Meanwhile, other sources claimed that the artiste had been sick for some time now – that his death was as a result of health complications.
At the moment, his family is yet to release an official statement on the cause of his death.
Father ‘U’ Turn was 36 years old.

Nollywood Veteran, Pa Ola Ogungbe Passes On


Nollywood has lost one of its own – ace actor, Pa Ola Ogungbe, better known as Papa Paragon is dead.
The aged actor died last night at a hospital in Abeokuta after a brief illness.

Until his death, Papa Paragon, the father of top actor, Segun Ogungbe was a member of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP), Abeokuta, Ogun State chapter.

Goa’s Death Update: Authorities demands judicial probe + Congress leader, his son and police officials linked to narcotics mafia


53 Nigerians were detained late Thursday night after a mob of about 200 of them blocked a National Highway over the death of a fellow national, (see story here).
Consequently, the Goa Congress, on Friday demanded a judicial probe into the murder of the Nigerian national, allegedly by the narcotics mafia, and the subsequent blockading of the National Highway No.17 for hours Thursday.
Addressing a press conference in Panaji, Congress spokesperson Reginaldo Lourenco said that his party was also open to a high-level probe into the findings of a legislative committee, which indicts senior Congress leader Ravi Naik, his son Roy and police officials for links with Goa's narcotics mafia.
"The manner in which Goa's main arterial road was held to ransom for six hours by a Nigerian gang only goes to show that the home ministry has failed. The corrupt policemen are too scared to touch the drug mafia," Lourenco said.

Nigerians Blocked Indian Road for Over 4 Hours in Protest of a Dead Colleague [PHOTOS]


Nigerians and other African nationals numbering about 200 blocked the National Highway 17 on the outskirts of Goa capital in India today in protest of the death of a yet-to-be identified Nigerian.
According to reports, the incident happened when a gang descended at Parra where many Nigerians stay - in four and two wheeler vehicles and attacked a group of Nigerians with weapons. Some of the Nigerians were on bikes when they were attacked. One was hit with a dagger severally that he breathed his last, while five others were injured in the attack before the assailants fled from the scene.

Up and coming Yoruba actress, Janet Atayero Oluseye is dead.
The 32-year-old talented actress who got married last year to Olalekan Oluseye died last week after a brief illness.
She was a member of the Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioner (ANTP), Ibadan chapter.

Admiral Akhigbe, not dead, says brother

The family of the former Chief of General Staff, Admiral Mike Akhigbe, Monday, described as untrue, online reports that the former number two man died in a London hospital.
Contrary to the reports of his alleged death, elder brother of the Admiral, Chief Joseph Alemon Akhigbe, said the news about his death was shocking to the family because “it is not true and it is really embarrassing to us’’.
According to him, “My brother is stabilizing in an American hospital and not even London as erroneously reported. As I speak to you now, the report in my opinion is pure speculation, the paper said he died in a London hospital but my brother is in an American hospital stabilizing. The wife, son-in-law and his daughter are with him. My immediate younger brother in Abuja who spoke to the wife in America confirmed to family members that the Admiral is stabilizing; the news of his death is totally untrue.

Former Military Vice President Mike Akhigbe Dies at 68

Admiral Mike Akhigbe, Nigeria’s former military vice president has passed away – he was 68.
Reports say Admiral Akhigbe died over the weekend in United Kingdom. He was said to have recently undergone some medical procedure in Germany and United states.
Akhigbe had a successful military career. He was Military Governor of Ondo state between September 1985 – August 1986 and Lagos state governor from August 1986 – July 1988.

Akhigbe was military vice-president in the regime headed by Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar that returned Nigeria to democracy in May 1999.

The three days fasting and prayer preceding yesterday’s burial of former governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Agagu was what prevented the Agagu’s family from being completely wiped out in Thursday’s plane crash.Bishop of the coast, Anglican Communion, Ebun Oluwa Ogunele made this disclosure while delivering sermon at the ex-governor’s burial ceremony.
The corpse, which laid in a gold casket with the designer’s label of ‘Bell’ as against the one by ‘MIC’ which was involved in Thursday’s plane crash but remained intact, was brought by another undertaker, BELL Casket at about 1.30 pm and lowered into the grave at about 3.45pm amid crying and wailing by family members, relations, friends and followers. His corpse was buried at the church cemetery.

Former Rivers Assembly Speaker, Tonye Harry, Slumps, Dies

Former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Tonye Harry, has been reported dead.
Harry was said to have died on Thursday while being flown overseas for treatment after collapsing on Monday at the Port Harcourt Club after a game of tennis.
Although the family was yet to issue a statement as at yesterday, the State Government and leadership of the assembly have issued condolence messages on the death of the former speaker and serving member representing Degema State constituency in the assembly.
A source, that would not want to be named, volunteered that Harry slumped at the Port Harcourt Club on Monday shortly after a game of tennis and was immediately rushed to a private clinic in Port Harcourt, where he was said to have been stabilised.

BREAKING: Associated Airline Plane Crashes in Lagos, NEMA Confirmed 2 Persons Dead [PHOTOS]


Reports reaching kiyoandfilo suggests that an Associated Airline plane carrying the body of late Agagu to Akure, has crashed in Lagos
According to NEMA, two persons have been confirmed dead – other unconfirmed reports says Gov Agagu’s son, and Deji Falae (Chief Olu Falae's first Son) were on board the crashed aircraft.
Tunde Demuren, the son of Harold Demuren, who was the immediate former Director General of the NCAA, also confirm the crash through his tweet, “some conflicting reports about who/what was onboard. Fact is, Plane crashed right after take off in Lagos… Lets wait for actual manifest,” he stated.

Renowned Ghanaian Poet, Prof. Awoonor killed in Kenya mall attack

Renowned Ghanaian poet and statesman Kofi Awoonor was among the 59 people confirmed dead in an attack by Somali Islamist militants on a Nairobi shopping mall, Ghana's president said Sunday.
Awoonor, 78, was killed and his son was wounded at the Westgate mall, Ghana's Deputy Information Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu said. Awoonor had been due to appear at the Storymoja Hay literary festival in Nairobi on Saturday.
Kwame Dawes, a cousin of Awoonor as well as a poet who was in Nairobi at the time of the attack, said Awoonor and his son were not together when the shooting started. "I think the son went to pick up something at the mall. Professor Awoonor was in the parking garage waiting for him," Dawes, a professor in the United States who is editing Awoonor's latest poetry collection, told AFP by telephone. "The son was shot while he was inside the mall. We don't know at what point the professor was shot," Dawes said.

One of Nigeria's Oldest twin sisters dies at 100

One of the centenarian twins, who celebrated their 100-year birthday on Saturday, March 16, Mrs Emily Kehinde Olukoga-Ogunde has passed on.
 In a statement by her only child, Mr Kunle Olukoga, the centenarian bade the world farewell on Thursday 5th September, 2013 at around 9am while having a nap, after her breakfast.
The twins were born on March 13, 1913 at Okun Owa, Ijebu, Ogun State.
She is survived by her son, grand children, great grand children and her twin sister, Mrs Esther Taiwo Olukoya, who has remained inconsolable after the news was broken to her.

Nigerian First Lady, Patience Jonathan's Mother Dies In Car Crash

There was anxiety in Port Harcourt on Monday as news of the death of Mrs. Iwari-Oba, the mother of the wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience, spread in the Rivers State capital.
The mother of Mrs. Jonathan was said to have been involved in a ghastly motor accident along Elele Road in Rivers State.
It was gathered that the woman, who is from Okrika Local Government Area, was on her way to Bayelsa State when the accident happened.
Unconfirmed report indicated that her corpse was taken to Kpaiyama Mortuary by a team of policemen and a member representing Ogu Bolo State Constituency, Mr. Evans Bipi, who is a relative to the deceased.
Though, the police and the Federal Road Safety Commission in the state could not confirm the incident, an aide to Bipi said the First Lady’s mother died in a road accident, which occurred at about 4pm.

Man shot dead at Osun PDP meeting

A 25-year-old man Kunle Olagoke was on Sunday shot dead at a factional meeting of a political party believed to be the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edunabon, Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State.
It was gathered that he died during a clash of rival factions of the party in the area.
Sources said there had been a leadership tussle between the two factions since last year in Ife North Local Government.
The PDP in the area had been allegedly enmeshed in crisis since the assumption of office of the chairman of the party in the council, Mr. Sam Oyetade.
A leader of the party in the state, who is also a governorship aspirant was not favorably disposed to the emergence of Oyetade as chairman and had made several efforts to get him impeached to no avail.
