TOUCHING: Couple weds with two-year-old dying son as best man [VIDEO]

Just two years old, the best man, Logan, is the son of the bride and groom, Christine Swidorsky and Sean Stevenson. The pair, who also have a one-year-old daughter together, wanted to share their special day with Logan, who is sick with a rare genetic disease and has been given just weeks to live.

“This is our dream come true. All our family together and we’re all together celebrating, the celebration of my son’s life and the celebration of our marriage,” Swidorsky told WPXI Saturday.

Swidorsky and Stevenson had already been planning their wedding, but moved up the big day once they knew their son’s life was nearing its end. “We'd been planning a wedding — we were starting to look for halls, but we decided to have it now so Logan could be a part of it, so he could be in the pictures — so it could be something our family did together," the couple told today.com.

At last, Peter Capaldi is revealed as the next 'Doctor Who' star

After months of speculation since Matt Smith announced that he was exiting the long-running British show Doctor Who, the BBC has announced the latest actor who will be taking on the role. In a live television announcement, with several previous stars on hand, it was revealed that Peter Capaldi will be portraying the newest incarnation of The Doctor.

Capaldi, 55 is a Scottish actor best known as Doctor Malcolm Tucker from BBC comedy ‘The Thick of It’.

Capaldi, who is the 12th actor to play the Doctor, said he was filming a BBC adaptation of The Three Musketeers in Prague when he found out.

“I had my phone on silent so I missed the call,” he said.

It was his agent, who greeted him with the phrase “Hello Doctor”.

“I started to laugh and haven't stopped laughing since,” Capaldi added.

Police arrest 3 for hurriedly burying an 18 year old boy

Police in Ondo State have arrested three persons for hurriedly burying an 18 year old boy, Sanmi Kehinde who allegedly shot himself dead with his father’s gun.

Kehinde reportedly shot himself last Wednesday with his father’s dane gun at Oriokuta community in Akoko South East council area of Ondo State.

The Police image maker in the state, Wole Ogodo said the family of the deceased did not make any formal report to the police before they hurriedly buried him.

Ogodo said detectives in the state police have commenced investigation to unravel the circumstance that could lead to the death of the teenager.

He said the report of the autopsy is still being awaited by the police.

According to him:  “Immediately the incident happened neither the family nor the neighbours reported the case to the police before they went ahead to bury the deceased, that is why the police arrested some people on the incident.

How challenging is the job of producing Hausa movies?

Most times, challenges come up when you don’t do your homework the way it should be done. I don’t produce more than one or two movies a year and I do a lot of pre-production planning before going on set. That removes all the challenges.

It seems just a handful of producers are from the north

Yes. There are just a couple of us. The reason could be cultural barriers; people seem to be just contented with what they do and they don’t want to branch out into wider areas.

How did you break into the English movie sector?

When I first started appearing in the English movies, the challenge I had was the perception of my people. Most people misunderstood what I was trying to do. But with time, when the movies started coming out, they became acquainted with what I was trying to do.

How did you meet?

Victory: I met her through one of my friends who stayed in my village with her parents.  I went to visit her in Lagos when the family relocated from the village.  The first day I saw Chika in her house, I knew she would make a good wife.  I started wooing her immediately.

Chika: We met through a friend, her name is Naomi.

Was it hard for you to woo her?

Victory: It was not that easy but she realised I was serious; it took some years of dating before she allowed me to meet her mother.

Terror Alert: US Shuts 21 Embassies

Amid warnings over a fresh planned attack on Western targets, United States officials in Washington and diplomats in US postings around the world were on high alert at the weekend, leading to the closure of 22 embassies and travel alert to American citizens in the Arabian Peninsula.

The British Broadcasting Corporation reported Saturday that the United States is not the only one worried by the latest threat to peace. The United Kingdom, French, and German embassies in Yemen will also be shut Sunday and Monday.

The uneasiness was coming on the heels of warnings that fresh intelligence points to Yemen-based al-Qaida being on the final stages of planning an attack on Western targets.

The warning is specifically tied to Yemen.

According to a report by Associated Press, President Barack Obama’s counterterrorism adviser updated him on the potential al-Qaida threat before he left Saturday for a round of golf in Maryland to kick off his 52nd birthday celebration last weekend, officials said.

In a show of humility and African tradition, Malawian President, Joyce Banda who was named by Forbes as the 71st most powerful woman in the world in 2012 and named the 47th in 2013 knelt down to greet Tanzanian President Jakaya Kikwete at a recent official function.

People who attended the function including the Tanzanian president himself were left bemused by the gesture.

As I pay respect to those great men that changed my life, the seemingly little gestures that shaped me and have made me who I am… I recall another long evening…

Year 2000, Fame pre-award concert. Dele Olukoju and Wale Oluwaleimu were the stage/project managers. Wale had suggested I come perform in my bid to build a name.

I went there with a friend of mine, we had spent the last kobo on us transporting ourselves and getting food to eat as the event didn’t start early enough.

My performance was done at about midnight. It was a great outing for me. As it was time to leave, I met with the show organisers hoping I’d be paid for my service or get a little change for transport.

Unfortunately, communication had gone wrong somehow as they thought I was doing the performance for free. It dawned on me at that moment that I was in trouble.

My Problem with the First Lady – Gov. Rotimi Amaechi

Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi has said that he desires peace with President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience, irrespective of their perceived misunderstanding.       

Amaechi said his misunderstanding with the First Lady arose out of his desire to provide a conducive learning environment for the children of Okrika, her hometown.  

The governor stated this when clergymen of the Niger Delta Bishops’ Forum visited him in Government House, Port Harcourt Friday as part of their efforts to mediate the political crisis in the state.

Amaechi said: “My lords, I don’t know what to say. Believe me, the only thing I want to say to you is that, and I want to be put on record, the wife of the President said when my wife came to beg me, I pushed her away. 

“I have never quarrelled with my wife publicly, and I will never quarrel with my wife publicly. So, there is no time I pushed my wife away, and there is no time I will push my wife away. 

“I just want to correct that so that nobody goes away with the impression that somebody told my wife, ‘go and talk to your husband,’ and she came and I pushed her away. 

Ghanaian Pastor Infects Boy, 14, with HIV, Says his libido gets high when he drinks alcohol [PHOTO]

A Tema-based man of God, Pastor Marvin Brown alias Prince Mark, has been arrested by the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Tema Regional Police Command for having carnal knowledge of a 14-year-old member of his church, resulting in the boy acquiring HIV.

Pastor Brown, the Spiritual Head of the New Jerusalem Religion at Tema Community 4, allegedly sodomised the boy on five occasions and warned him not to disclose the act to anyone or he would die.

The Tema Regional Police PRO, ASP Olivia Turkson confirmed the arrest of the suspect to Daily Guide yesterday.

She said the pastor was arrested after the parents of the Class 4 pupil of a Tema basic school reported the incident to the police.

Sources close to the family told the paper that they suspected the pastor might have infected the boy with HIV after the boy tested positive for the deadly disease.

The pastor, during interrogation by the police, admitted sodomizing the boy but denied that he had sex with the teenager five times.

He said it occurred only once under the influence of alcohol after an outing with the victim who was living with him in his house.

Lawmakers Or Lawbreakers: Watch Taiwanese lawmakers exchanged punches [VIDEO]

Taiwanese lawmakers exchanged punches and threw water at each other today ahead of an expected vote that would authorise a referendum on whether to finish a fourth nuclear power plant on the densely populated island of 23 million people.

Nuclear power has long been a contentious issue in Taiwan and became more so following the Fukushima nuclear disaster in Japan in 2011.

Fighting in the hallowed, nay hollow chambers is a bug that is spreading like wild fire.

Our so-called lawmakers have turned themselves into pugilist, fighting at any slight provocation. Like they say, “when the rain falls on the leopard, it does not wash off its spot”
