Beyonce and Andre 3000 release 'Back to Black' With Amy Winehouse Cover
Filo: Back to Black is the
recent effort of Beyonce and Andre 3000; a song that forms part of the
soundtrack of Baz Luhrmann’s movie "The Great Gatsby"
The song
first appeared on Winehouse's 2006 album of the same title. On the new version,
Andre handles the first half of the song, doing more singing than rapping this
time, before Beyonce takes over the rest of it.

2FACE JOINS ALL STAR LINEUP AT MTV AFRICA ALL STARS
Kiyo: 2 Face has signed up
for the MTV Africa All Stars KwaZulu-Natal with Snoop Lion; the urban music
extravaganza will be staged by MTV Base and KwaZulu-Natal Province in Durban,
South Africa on May 18. Flavour and Zakes Bantwini would grace the stage with 2Face
and Snoop Lion at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban. More than 10,000 people
are expected to enjoy the once-in-a-lifetime concert.

Kiyo: Psy was honoured at
the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on Friday for taking over the world with
his popular Gangnam Style
Accepting
the award at the New York University prize giving, the singer said 'who knew,
right? Giving me this award in itself is innovation, I think...I still cannot
believe what happened right now'

Tunde Baiyewu: I wanted to be an accountant…. but accountancy was boring

featured
in Metro UK publication under Ents and Tech Music column, Tunde Baiyewu, a frontman
of pop group The Lighthouse Family bares his mind on his child hood experiences.
He recounted
the incidence of his father’s death at age four and his family’s relocation to
Nigeria from the UK. Tunde talked about his joining a church just to stay out
of trouble and the marriage of his mother to former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The father
of two girls (Elizabeth and Rebecca) also recalled his encounter with Paul
Tucker after he discovered Accountancy profession was not for him, though he
has a degree in same field.
The ‘Great
Romantic’ singer has a piece of advice for parents “You have to tell kids off
occasionally but I don’t want them to harbour those feelings that there’s any
sort of preferential treatment because there isn’t”.

Tyler Perry Sued Over "Temptation" Movie Script

Filo: An Indiana man, William
James has filed a lawsuit against Tyler Perry, claiming the filmmaker stole his
idea for Perry’s latest film, Temptation: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor.
According
to TMZ, James admits he doesn’t know for sure if Perry even saw his
screenplay. His lawsuit claims he wrote
the plot in 2009 and supposedly handed it over to “an associate” of Oprah
Winfrey’s, hoping it would eventually make its way into Perry’s hands.

Kiyo: In a recent interview
with Kemi Vaughan of Punch Newspaper, Zaaki Azzay was asked if he thinks
divorce is the best option.
He said
“First of all, I didn’t send my wife out of the house. I didn’t sue for
divorce. I did not go to the press; everything I have been accused of, I did
not do. So, I don’t have any hand in anything, as far as I’m concerned. If you
want to hide a lie, you have to lie a billion times to cover the lie. The truth
you can’t hide, that’s all I have to say”.

Well
the singer says ‘I don’t need anybody to believe what I have to say. If you
believe me, fine, if you don’t believe me, fine. Time will tell’.
Justus Nwaoga among 10 finalists for African Innovation Prize

Kiyo: A Nigerian scientist
has been named among the ten finalists for the $100,000 Innovation Prize for
Africa.
Justus
Nwaoga developed a new way to collect renewable solar energy by using the
mimosa pudica weed, an organic African medicinal plant. The Mimosa weed has the
ability to close its leaves when touched, open at sunrise and fold at sunset.
The obvious control by the sun and photovoltaic response in live mimosa plants
generated the plant’s solar energy potential.

Canadian woman fighting to prove her marriage to Nigerian man is legit

Filo: A New Brunswick woman
has been trying for three years to bring her Nigerian-born husband to Canada,
but the government says the marriage is not legitimate.
Vicki
Obichere married her husband Kelvin, who lives in Nigeria, three years ago
after an online courtship.
She
says the work involved having her husband join her in Salisbury, N.B. has been
exhausting.
“We
just received an email yesterday,” says Obichere.
The
email, from a Canadian immigration officer, says the department does not
consider her marriage to be valid. Obichere now has 30 days to prove she and
her husband is a legitimate couple.
She
also says she understands there needs to be laws to prevent immigration fraud,
but insists her marriage is real.

Nigerian Islamists got $3.15 million to free French hostages: document
Kiyo: Nigerian Islamist
sect Boko Haram was paid an equivalent of around $3.15 million by French and
Cameroonian negotiators before freeing seven French hostages this month, a
confidential Nigerian government report obtained by Reuters said.
The
memo does not say who paid the ransom for the family of seven, who were all
released on April 19, although it says Cameroon freed some Boko Haram detainees
as part of the deal.

Nicki Minaj Makes Film Debut in 'The Other Woman'
Filo: Nicki Minaj is in
final negotiations to make her live-action movie debut, joining the cast of
Fox’s revenge comedy ‘The Other Woman’.
The cast
of the comedy would include Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau
and Kate Upton. The Other Woman, directed by Nick Cassavetes centers on a woman
(Diaz) who finds out that she is “the other woman” in an affair.
Meanwhile,
Minaj will play Diaz's opinionated assistant -- a woman on her third marriage at
a law firm.

Nigerian Gaming Company KULUYA Valued At $2m

gaming company, KULUYA.com, on Thursday announced it raised another small seed
stage investment to expand commercial activities, thereby propping the
company’s valuation to $2 million.
Kunle
Ogungbamila, Head of KULUYA said: “We have grown the company to a $2 million
valuation in six months. Our goal is to become one of the most successful media
companies in Africa, and with today’s news, I see this as being totally
achievable”.

Comedienne, Mandy to thrill fans in Uganda
Kiyo: Mandy Uzonitsha, one
of the pioneer female stand-up comedians in Nigeria would be cracking jokes at
The Hub (Oasis Mall) in Kampala, Uganda this weekend.
The comedienne
is not new to the entertainment industry in Uganda; she was also at the Night
of 1000 laughs comedy show in Kampala last year, where she wowed many with her jokes
about Ugandan celebrities and social life.
