Nigerian-Born Actor to become the first black Doctor Who

Chiwetel Ejiofor to become the first black Doctor Who

With the announcement that Matt Smith would be leaving the role of Doctor Who at the end of the year, the hunt is on to find the twelfth Time Lord.
And so far, Nigerian-born British actor Chiwetel Ejiofor has been given 7/1 odds and is the sci-fi fan sites' favourite to fill the role, not to mention becoming the first black Doctor in the show's history. Chiwetel, 35, has already stated that if the series' producers asked him to play the Time Lord, he'd tell them 'yes, of course.'
Asked by Andrew Marr in 2011 whether he'd take on the part, the actor said: 'Yes, of course. It's always good to be asked to come back to London and do great stuff not only in television but in theatre and film too.'
Skybet gave BAFTA-winner Chiwetel, the odds taking into account his stellar history on stage and screen, having starred in films like American Gangster and Love.
But Ejiofor isn't the only star rumoured to be taking on the high-profile job, with Rory Kinnear as the Ladbrokes favourite with odds of 3/1.
Russell Tovey is also a strong contender, whose name was linked to the eleventh Doctor role but obviously the Being Human star lost out to Matt Smith in 2010.

Oral sex caused my cancer – Hollywood Actor, Michael Douglas reveals

Oral sex caused my cancer – Hollywood Actor, Michael Douglas reveals

Hollywood actor Michael Douglas has claimed that his throat cancer was caused by performing oral sex on women.
The star, who fought a six month battle with the disease from August 2010 until January 2011, had initially believed that it was his years of smoking and drinking that had lead to the illness.
However, in a new interview the 68-year-old said that the particular strain he had suffered with was caused by human papilloma virus (HPV), a sexually transmitted disease. HPV is a sexually transmitted virus which is more widely known as a cause of cervical and anal cancer.
Douglas made the frank admission about how he developed the illness during an interview with The Guardian newspaper when he was asked if he had regretted smoking and drinking in the past.
Douglas candidly replied: ‘No, because without wanting to get too specific, this particular cancer is caused by HPV, which actually comes about from cunnilingus.’

Appeal Court orders NDLEA not to pay Baba Suwe N25m

Appeal Court orders NDLEA not to pay Baba Suwe N25m

The Court of Appeal in Lagos, has overturned the ruling of a high court and quashed the N25million damages awarded to Nollywood actor, Babatunde Omidina, more popular as Baba Suwe.
The appellate court, in its judgment read by Justice Rita Pemu, held that the NDLEA has the right to keep the respondent in custody while investigation was being carried out.
Justice Pemu also declared that the Lagos High Court lacked the jurisdiction to entertain, in the first place, the fundamental human rights suit filed by Lagos lawyer and rights activist, Bamidele Aturu, on behalf of the comedian. She added that it was only the Federal High Court that had the right to adjudicate on the matter, being a drug-related case.
She then held that the award of the damage sum by the trial judge was “excessive, unrealistic and perverse.”

Justice Pemu said, “The constitution stipulates the right to personal liberty. The result of the CT Scan carried out on the respondent was in consonance with the appellant’s suspicion.

Yvonne Nelson Lost Her Temper while filming 'One Night in Vegas' In the US

Yvonne Nelson Lost Her Temper while filming 'One Night in Vegas' In the US

While filming the movie 'One Night in Vegas', directed by John Uche, Yvonne Nelson displayed a high level of insubordination that literally brought the production to a halt. As portrayed by Washington Post, her attitude angered the Director who also reacted “No one can tell me what to do on my set; I’ve directed bigger actors than you.”
Washington Post captured Yvonne’s unruly behaviour in a recent article that featured the movie 'One Night in Vegas' – the movie, which starred Yvonne Nelson, Jimmy Jean-Louis and John Dumelo among others was shot in the US.

Here is a piece of the article;

A drop-dead beautiful Ghanaian actress is yelling at the director. Her voice — with that slightly British Ghanaian accent — echoes across the polished marble floors and bounces off the baby grand inside a Montgomery County mansion that has been turned into a movie set.
Cameras have stopped rolling. Actors lean against the bay windows overlooking the swimming pool.
“I’m human!” shouts the movie star, Yvonne Nelson. “I can complain if I want to complain. I am not a robot.”
“No one can tell me what to do on my set!” warns the director, John Uche, a Nigerian who lives in Upper Marlboro. “I’ve directed bigger actors than you.”
The actress spins and storms up a circular staircase, retreating to her bedroom lair and halting production.

This could be a disaster for this “Nollywood” movie. Filming has to be completed in three weeks. If the star quits, thousands of dollars are down the tube. The other actors — some of the biggest names in Africa have flown in from Nigeria and Ghana — will have wasted a trip. And the producer, Koby Maxwell, an award-winning Ghanaian musician turned movie maker, will lose investors’ money.
