Filo: Though recent news suggests
Selena Gomez may have rekindled her romance with Justin Bieber, but it appears
the actress is having a different feeling.
During
an interview on Elvis Duran's Z100 radio show, the Spring Breakers actress
confessed she fancies Ryan Gosling!
The ‘I
won’t apologize’ singer said: "He’s super-cute. I’ve not met him yet. I’ve
seen him on an airplane… and I freaked out so I didn’t even… I don’t even think
he saw me.”
Kiyo: Crush with care
because Eva Mendes is watching you.
Kiyo: Oscar Pistorius’
older brother Carl is back in court in South Africa for his culpable homicide
trial, where he is charged with driving negligently and causing the death of a
woman motorcyclist in a collision in 2008.
Prosecutors
say Pistorius caused the death of 36-year-old Maria Barnard when his Ford
Ranger SUV collided with her motorbike in March 2008, throwing her off the
bike.
Filo: Carl’s brother, Oscar,
also known as the "Blade Runner," is charged with premeditated murder
in the death of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp
Filo: Fuse ODG has released
the remix to "Antenna" that features Wande Coal, R2Bees and Sarkodie!
The track was produced by Killbeatz.
The
singer, who was also nominated for a Burkina Faso music award, will be heading
to the West African country today, 25 April to perform at the award ceremony.
Kiyo: There's good news and
bad news for Lauryn Hill. The good -- she wasn't sentenced to prison on Monday
for tax evasion. The bad -- she has to come up with more than $500,000 before
May 3 to stay out of the clink.
Ms
Hill, who's had hits as a solo artist and a member of the Fugees, pleaded
guilty last June for failure to file federal tax returns in 2005, 2006 and 2007
when she raked in a total of $1.8 million.
Hill's
lawyers say that they've paid $50,000 toward her bill for owed taxes and
penalties, but still have to come up with that other big chunk of change before
the end of next week.
Filo: Hmm, hoping the erstwhile
Fugee members would come to her aid.
Filo: Beyoncé has
reportedly banned all professional photographers from her current Mrs Carter
Show world tour. The move to prohibit press photographers is seen by most
observers as a reaction to this year’s Super Bowl incident, when sites such as
Gawker and Buzzfeed compiled “unflattering” images of Beyoncé’s jubilant
exertions.
Kiyo: The implication:
henceforth no professional shots of Beyoncé’s show would be available except
shots from phones and cameras taken from the front row of her audience.
Filo: Iceprince has
delivered on his promise today; the result is the release of two new singles –
VIP and Gimme Dat featuring Burna Boy, Yung L & Olamide.
Kiyo: Almost thought VIP
was another Aboki remix, nice try though.
Listen
to the tracks below; let’s know what you think - Hit or Miss.
Kiyo: South Africa’s
broadcasting regulator has granted a local satellite television service
permission to air the country’s first pornography channels, amid resistance
from religious and community groups, a statement said Wednesday.
The
Independent Communications Authority (ICASA) ruled that “there is no law of
general application prohibiting the production and distribution of adult
content” by TopTV
The
three channels, “Playboy TV,” “Desire TV” and “Private Spice” will be broadcast
between 8pm and 5am.
Filo: If TopTV did this to
increase viewership, it simply means their primary mission is not to add value
but maximize profit.
Kiyo: The Senate will today
commence the debate on the amendment of the University of Lagos Act, which
provides for the establishment of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), to pave the
way for the change of name of the institution to Moshood Abiola University,
Lagos (MAULAG).
If
the bill secures the support of the majority senators, it will pass through the
second reading today after which it will be committed to the Senate Committee
on Education for further legislation.
Filo: Wow! With the Baga
massacre and other security issues in the country, our honourable members still
have time for this.
Kiyo: Taking cue from MTN
but presented in a subtle manner, Airtel has released their commercial for the
number portability regime. The ad started with a family moving from a yellow
painted building to a larger and more elegant one painted red with the guy
saying ‘finally’. One key element in the ad is that the family moved with the
yellow painted house number; this is to let the consumers know that you can
still retain your phone number (MSISDN) despite porting.
Filo: Afeez Oyetoro fondly
called SAKA is a popularly name in the entertainment circles possibly because of
his hilarious interpretation of roles.
The
lecturer cum actor before now was known as a brand ambassador of EMTS (Etisalat); however in the recent porting
advert of MTN, Saka seems to have
dumped his first love. The ad started with Saka dressed in green traditional
attire only to metamorphose into a yellow costume singing ‘I don port o, I don
port go MTN. I don upgrade to MTN‘.
Let’s
recall an interview he granted Saturday Tribune last year, SAKA said “As you
must have known I had a very poor
background and I have said it before that at a point in my life, poverty
was too evident with bread and beans
as well as guguru and epa being my
anointed foods but today it is all history. The Etisalat campaign is blessing my pockets, it has also boosted my
profile to the point that I believe that real stardom will soon come. However,
I am still my humble self”
Saka, so what happened?
Kiyo: Many questions begging
for answers;
1. Was
there a contractual agreement between Etisalat and Saka or his rep?
2. If
yes, has the contract elapsed?
3. If
no, why would a company in the calibre of EMTS
have a brand ambassador or propagandist without a contractual document?
4. Is
MTN more afraid of Etisalat than other competitors?
5. Would
the advertising war obviously started by MTN be healthy for our nascent porting
regime?
Filo: 2facemaniacs is the
official and authorized fan base of 2face Innocent Ujah Idibia, founded by
passionate fans of the music star. Last year the group launched a website in
recognition of 2face’s contribution to the music industry, also they surprised him
with a birthday mini documentary which was projected on a screen.
In celebrating
the second anniversary, come May 4th 2facemaniacs would be unveiling
the full documentary.
Filo: For Ciara’s fans,
the video for her single Body Party is out and it features her beau, Future. The
Rapper boyfriend was over her from the beginning to the end of the video.
Body
Party is from her June 4th album and it was directed by X.
Kiyo: Nigerian comedienne,
Princess Damilola Adekoya fondly called Princess in the entertainment circles
and her beau, Ade made their relationship official today April 22, 2013 at the
Federal Marriage Registry, Ikoyi, Lagos.
Filo: Congrats, traditional
marriage ceremony is slated for May 8, 2013.
Kiyo: Ghanaian rap
sensation, Sarkodie is set to officially launch his clothing line, Sark Collections
on April 27 at Aphrodisiac Nite Club, Accra.
The
“Sark Collection” is inspired by Sarkodie and the design by Yas. Caps, Belts,
Wristbands, Footwear and Bags, all with some exotic touch are some of the
accessories the “Sark Collection” features.
Filo: No stopping Obidi Pon
Bidi, nice collections.
Filo: Kanye West is surely
on a tweeting effusion; with words like “Some people only enter your life as a temporary
happiness. Enjoy what you felt and move on. It was never meant to be” and “No
one wants to be treated like an option”, it seems the rapper needed to get
stuff off his chest.
