Oni Oladimeji was the first runner up at the 2013 edition of the UKTop Model. The model, in this interview with Doyin Adeoye (Tribune), spoke about his fashion preferences, career and style, among other things.

Foray into modelling…

I had always had the passion for modelling and that basically started a long time ago, but because of some restraining factors here in Nigeria, I had to subdue the passion. But I remember ever since I was at the university, around 2010, my friends used to tell me of how good my body looked and how I could make a career in modelling, but I never gave it much thought. It was not until I got in contact with Mon Ami, the prominent Nigerian fashion designer, that I began to see it as a major career. He groomed and encouraged me into the modelling field. He taught me about perseverance, which is important in this line of profession. I was serving then in Abeokuta, Ogun State, so I used to shuttle between there and Lagos, following him to shows and it was a really good experience.

Africa’s Next Top Model season 1 finale held yesterday and pretty contestant Aamito Stacie Lagum from Uganda emerged the proud and excited winner.

Aamito had beaten her fellow top 3 mates – Michaela Pinto from Angola & Opeyemi Awoyemi from Nigeria to emerge the winner.

She gets the 1-year modelling contract with New York based modelling agency DNA Model Management, a product endorsement deal with P&G, a 1-year contract as an ambassador for South African Tourism, SNAPP, Etisalat, Verve, and a cash prize of 50,000 USD.

Queen Latifah Covers Good Housekeeping Mag, Talks About Her Weight, Drinking & More [PICZ]

In the January issue of Good Housekeeping, Dana Elaine Owens, popularly known as Queen Latifah, recalls using alcohol in the past to ease her pain after tragedy. She now says she focuses on "accentuating the positive" in her life.

Though the 43-year-old actress appears joyful on the cover; wearing a bright red dress and a big smile, Latifah opens up to the magazine about some of her darkest moments. In 1995, the talk show host was the victim of a violent carjacking in which her passenger friend was shot and nearly died. Latifah said she didn't cope with the shock of the incident well. "Drinking a bunch of alcohol, numbing myself," she recalled. "Every day I would be faded, like a painting that's just not vibrant, whose edges are dull. I wasn't living my full life."

In this edition of Dujour, Lupita talks about her dreams for the future and more; “I would love to have a career that’s governed by the material; I always want to be part of stories that I feel are worthwhile,” she said. “And they don’t all have to be as heavy as 12 Years a Slave. I do my best work when I feel conviction to say something through the character I play. Always I want to have integrity and not compromise that,” she added.

Amadi Jennifer Enuolare wins Miss Nigeria Ghana 2013 Beauty Pageant [PHOTOS]

The Miss Nigeria Ghana 2013 beauty pageant came to an end weekend when Amadi Jennifer Enuolare emerged as the new queen. Jennifer, who is an orphan, was able to beat the other 35 contestants in a fierce competition.

The new Miss Nigeria Ghana is from Rivers State, Nigeria and currently a student of Knutsford University College, Accra, where she is studying Human Resource Management.

The theme for the event was ‘Beauty Made in Nigeria’, and indeed Nigerian young women schooling in Ghana were at their best, representing each of the 36 states of Nigeria.

Jennifer represented Delta state.

Which would you rather wear, your natural hair or weave?

Well, if I had very good hair texture then I would have rocked my natural hair and do all crazy styles of weave with it but unfortunately, that’s not the case. I alternate with other options, thank God for weave-ons and attachments.

How much does it cost you to make your hair and how long does it take?

To be very honest, there is no price tag to my hair. I can spend a lot on it as long as I like it and it suits me. I am really crazy when it comes to my hair styles because most of the time, I create my own styles which are always very unique, crazy, and very colourful. I love playing with colours on my hair. The least number of colours you can find on my hair is three.
