Cousin rapes teenaged girl for 10 months gets her pregnant

A teenager was raped for 10 months allegedly by her cousin in Tambore area of Sitapur, India police said on Monday. The 16-year-old girl was raped by her cousin for 10 months and the family came to know when the minor got pregnant, they said.

The girl accused her 26-year-old cousin after which a case was registered and the victim has been sent for medical examination, police said.

Circa 2009, there were reported cases of Nigerians ‘allegedly’ killing themselves in Johanesbourg Town and Benoni, South Africa – it seems the ugly trend has resurfaced.
Gauteng police are investigating the murder of three Nigerian Nationals in Benoni in a shooting that happened on Saturday evening.
Gauteng police said on Sunday that three men have been killed in a cellular shop in Voortrekker Street, Benoni, on the East Rand.
According to Lt-Col Lungelo Dlamini, they were inside the shop when five armed men entered around 6pm on Saturday. The five men opened fire, killing two of the customers, both 38, inside the shop, and the third man, 40, at the shop door.
Afterwards, the gunmen fled in a green BMW.
“The murdered men were Nigerians and their assailants were also believed to be Nigerians,” said Dlamini.
He said the police found spent cartridges at the scene, and a licensed firearm belonging to one of the men who died. Nothing was stolen.

“The motive for the killing is still unknown but a possibility that the victims were a rival group is being investigated,” said Dlamini. - Sapa

A 30-year-old woman, Precious Adebayo, yesterday, narrated how she escaped from a suspected ritualist, Taiwo Balogun, who disguised as a commercial bus driver.
Precious told Vanguard that at about 8 p.m. on June 5, 2013, she boarded a commercial bus at Iyana Orile bus stop in Orile Agege Local Council Development Area, LCDA.
According to her, "it was raining at the time. The bus driver (Balogun) was alone in the bus when I flagged him down and told him I was going to Iyana Ipaja.
"He stopped, picked me and sped off. On getting to Mobil petrol station on Old Ipaja road, just before the Lagos State exams board office, beside NYSC camp, he told me that because of the heavy traffic at the Iyana Ipaja under bridge, he wanted to go through some inner streets through Orile Agege LCDA office at Arigbanla. He said he would come out close to Iyana Ipaja through Aboru junction and I agreed."
Precious said she became apprehensive when it took the driver several minutes navigating through inner streets without emerging anywhere.

11,000 Bayelsa youths renounce cultism

Bayelsa State Government’s crusade against cultism received a boost weekend, with 11,000 youths openly renouncing their membership of various secret cult groups.
The oath taking ceremony for the repentant cultists was administered by the state Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Chief Francis Egele.
Speaking at the event, at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Yenagoa, Governor Seriake Dickson, said that government plans to train 10,000 youths drawn from the eight local government areas of the state in different vocations.
According to him, N1 billion had been set aside as soft loans for young entrepreneurs, adding that a youth summit would soon be held in the state to enable government identify their problems.
Commending the decision of youths in the state to renounce cultism and other acts of criminality, the governor, said that the empowerment programme was part of his administration’s Restoration Agenda.

The Olofin of Ado-odo, Oba Abdul Lateef Akanni Adeniran, on Monday, in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, before the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into Ado-odo crisis, stunned the court when he said the hoodlums who attacked him on April 15 attempted to rape his wife, while his crown and other valuables were stolen.
Oba Akanni, who disclosed this while giving graphic details of how he was attacked by the hoodlums on the fateful day, said ₦1.5 million kept in his palace as of the time of the incident was equally stolen, while he was beaten with charms, just as he said he would have been dead if not for the grace of God.

Gang Rape: Two Bag Life Imprisonment in Delta


A Delta State High Court at Ughelli has convicted two persons for gang-raping a 17-year old girl after robbing her parents of valuables, and thereby sentenced them to life imprisonment.
In 2007, the convicts namely: Ernest Steve, 30, and Jerry Godwin, 29 broke into the apartment of a 17-year-old girl’s parents at Young Africa Close, Ovwian within Otor-Udu judicial division with a gun and knife.
But the court declined their plea for mercy on the grounds of law and consequently slammed a life imprisonment on the convicts, whom it said, admitted to a three-count charge brought against them at the court.
The court, which was presided over by Justice O. Tobi, described the action of the convicts as barbaric, warning young people that “never resort to crime again no matter the condition they found themselves.”

Retired soldier murders spouse over plans to marry second wife

The Edo State police have arrested a retired soldier, identified as Ukana, for allegedly killing his wife, Mrs Onyonishoyi Ukana-Nee Akarutu; following the deceased’s refusal to allow him marry his long time mistress.
The incident, which happened at Igarra Community of Akoko –Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, threw the entire community into confusion.
Ukana, a retired Warrant Officer 2, was reported to have gruesomely macheted his wife at about 1am Friday morning dismembering her body.
Community sources close to the family said efforts by the 18 year old son of the deceased to save her mother proved abortive as he also received several machete cuts from the suspect
The boy was reported to have raised the alarm which attracted neighbours in the night when he was woken up by the shout of his mother as she was being butchered by his father.

SSS parades Accountant for impersonating Uduaghan


Director of the State Security Service (SSS) in Delta State, Mrs. Florence Ikanone yesterday paraded a 27-year-old graduate of Accountancy from Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Mr. Philip Urieh, for allegedly impersonating Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on the social networking site, facebook.
She said the suspect, a native of Uzere in Isoko South Local Government Area of the state, was recently arrested by operatives of the state command following painstaking surveillance that was mounted on him as a result of series of reports received on the subject.
According to the Director, the suspect through the facebook platform allegedly defrauded unsuspecting persons to the tune of over ₦5 million by opening a facebook account with the name and picture of Governor Uduaghan which he uses to deceive his clients, promising them juicy contracts and government appointments.

Nigerian Man to be Hanged For Drug Trafficking in Malaysia


A Nigerian man was sentenced to death by hanging by the High Court in Malaysia today after being found guilty of trafficking in 1124.10gms of methamphetamine at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in Sepang, two years ago.
Anoliefo Peter Ndubuisi, 36, committed the offence at the airport Customs inspection counter at 4pm on July 30, 2011.
Justice Noor Azian Shaari in her judgement, said Anoliefo's defence that he was not aware of the presence of the drugs inside the 13 bottles of hair cream he was asked to carry by a friend whom he knew for only two days, was not logical.

Deputy public prosecutor Aida Mastura Mohamed Aman called 16 witnesses at the prosecution hearing while Counsel James George called only one witness during the defence's trial.

Operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, Ikeja have arrested three fleeing members of a syndicate who allegedly specialized in selling live humans and decomposing human parts for money rituals.
Their arrest came barely three weeks after some of their members were paraded at the Lagos State Police Command, where they confessed to have sold live human beings for N40,000, hands—N4,000 and head—N8,000.
Those recently arrested are Gazali Akewadola (60), the native doctor who allegedly offered N40,000 for a live human being, Alfa Taofeek Akinola (35) and Kazeem Sanni (25).
To the bewilderment of all, Gazali confessed that live human beings were cheaper than buying dead human parts, saying all parts of a live human being are vital in the preparation of money ritual.
For instance, he said a life human being was bought for N40,000, “but at the end of the day, you get a lot of expensive parts from it. Aside that, it is even more potent because the efficacy of the charm or concoction prepared with live human parts cannot be compared with the ones prepared with dead parts.

ATANI Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ogbaru Council Area of Anambra State, on Wednesday, was disrupted, as suspected members of homosexual family almost stopped court proceedings, following the docking of two of their members for alleged same sex offence.
According to reports, over 50 members of the group from various parts of the state stormed the court premises as early as 9.00 a.m. in solidarity with their two members arrested by the state police command on offence related to same sex violation.
The group, while chanting anti-police and court songs, said they came to express their fundamental human rights and to show solidarity with their members, who were standing trial on some count charge relating to same sex.

Man in court for stealing phones worth ₦12 million


A Lagos court on Tuesday arraigned a 29-year old man accused of stealing phones worth ₦N12 million.
The Ikeja Magistrate’s Court heard how Tunde Olajuwon, a salesman, along with other accomplices, stole the phones from his employer’s gadget store, located in the Computer Village in Ikeja.
According to the court reports, Olajuwon was said to have committed the heist on April 16.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Benson Emuerhi, pushed to have the suspected thief kept in police custody. The judge, however, Ms. Osunsanmi, granted the suspect bail in the sum of ₦500,000 with two surties in like sum. She adjourned the case until July 17, 2013.

EVIL: Man baths lover with acid


An Ikpoba-Okha Area Customary Court sitting at Idogbo, Benin City has remanded a  22-year-old man, Cyril Okosun, in prison for allegedly bathing his girlfriend with acid.
The accused was alleged to have on April 19, 2013 at Dumez Road in the state metropolis poured acid on the face and body of the girl after she decided to quit their relationship.
When the case came up for mention, yesterday, counsel to the accused, Fidelis Oriafo, pleaded for his bail which was opposed by Police  prosecutor, Inspector Victor Ehiorobo, on the ground that the victim, Blessing Ikhumuhi, was still in a critical condition at the UBTH.

President of the court, Princess Esther Eweka, adjourned the case to July 23, 2013 for hearing.

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four boys for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl in the Mile 12 area of the state.
Punch Metro learnt that the suspects, Wale Badejo, Jubril Yusuf, Olusanya Remi and Wale Oluwafemi, who are between the ages 18 and 19, allegedly abducted the victim on her way to school and took turns raping her.
According to the police, the suspects held the victim for over seven hours and threatened to kill her if she told anybody about what happened to her.
A member of the victim’s family, who craved anonymity, said the incident occurred on May 30, 2013.
She said, “She (the victim) told us that one of the suspects, who also lived in the area, had been making sexual advances to her for sometime but she always rebuffed him. The boy (Oluwafemi) and her friends then vowed to deal with her, calling her a proud person.
“She schools at Maryland and because of the distance of the school from home, she leaves home around 6:30am every day.
“On the day of the incident, the boys came on two motorcycles, grabbed her and took her to Oluwafemi’s house at Agiliti.
“The boys blindfolded her and stuffed her mouth with cloth. The boys then took pictures of the barbaric act and made a video recording which they said they would upload on Facebook. The boys further threatened to kill her if she told anybody about what had happened.”
Punch Metro learnt that when the victim returned home, she did not inform her parents about what had transpired for fear of being killed.

Woman Raped in Police Custody Takes Her Pain to the Court

Three months after she was gang-raped while in police custody at the Abraka Division of the Delta State Police Command, the victim and mother of five, Mrs. Ese Isaiah Ozegbe, has dragged the Nigeria Police to court.
In the suit filed by her counsel, Mr. Efe Ejomasuvwe, at the Federal High Court, Warri, she is claiming N750 million as damages from the police over the incident. Hearing in the case has been fixed for June 13.
Thisday had reported on May 4, this year, how Mrs. Ozegbe was allegedly gang-raped by four men in police cell at the Abraka Division of the Delta State Police Command.
The victim was said to have been detained among men at the Station where she was allegedly raped in turn.
She had alleged in a petition to the AIG, Zone 5, Benin City, Mr. Hashimu Argungu, that she was serially raped by the men while in the custody of the police at Abraka.
In the petition, she accused the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Abraka, and his men of negligence and failure to protect her.

Five South African police beat Nigerian to death

Five Limpopo police officers beat a Nigerian man to death, the Polokwane Magistrate's Court heard on Thursday.
“I put it to you that you beat him, he fainted and you resuscitated him. He woke up and…you beat him again,” prosecutor Jacky Mabasa told the officers during cross-examination. “You also sprinkled water on him.”
The five, Boitumelo Ramahlala, Mashiba Mathata, Collins Sekoati, Thabo Mabotja and Clement Tsotsane, face murder and assault charges. They were applying for bail.
They are accused of beating Onyechiabi Iwuaka to death on May 21 while he was visiting a friend. His friend escaped the assault. Iwuaka died on the way to the Polokwane police station.
The court was told the officers stopped on the way to the police station to buy water, as Iwuaka was bleeding from his ears.
Mabasa said an ambulance was called for Iwuaka after he died.

I was fed with garri for one month – Kidnapped Octogenarian recount his experience


An octogenarian, Pa Akinyele Akerele, who was kidnapped in Igbobini, Ese-Odo Local Government area of Ondo State by gunmen on May 4, said on Thursday that the hoodlums fed him with garri and flogged him every day throughout the period.
Ondo State Command of the Nigeria Police Force secured the release of the old man on Tuesday and apprehended no fewer than seven suspects in connection with the kidnap.
Akerele said, “I was abducted by unknown gunmen from my home at Igbobini and was taken through the sea to Sapele in Delta State.
“I never knew I could survive the ordeal. I was taken forcefully and blindfolded till we got across the sea.
“As soon as we got to Sapele, they removed the blindfold.They fed me on just garri (cassava flakes) for the whole one month, I was flogged and beaten mercilessly especially when they realised that money was not forthcoming.
“Since my existence, I have never suffered as much as I did in the last one month in the kidnappers den.

Confusion In Benin After Police Killed And Hurriedly Buried Student



Students of the University of Benin on Wednesday disrupted vehicular movements along major roads in Benin City, the Edo state capital while protesting the alleged killing of Ibrahim Momodu a final year student of their institution by men of the Ogida police station.
The students dressed in black marched round the streets of Benin City chanting and calling for the arrest and persecution of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ogida station, Carol Afebgai over the alleged murder of Mr Momodu.
The police allegedly murdered Mr Momodu on 27 May and buried him the next day even before the family could determine his where about.
An elder sister of the deceased Rebecca Egbe, while calling for justice gave an account of how the life of his brother was cut short by the bullet allegedly fired by the DPO of Ogida police station and buried without the knowledge of family.

Daughter accuses Dad, 57, of having sex with her


Emotion ran high, Monday, at the Bar Beach Police Division, following revelation by a Primary 5 pupil of how her 57-year-old father had been having carnal knowledge of her in the last three months.
The primary school pupil during interrogation said her mother brought her to her father after years of separation, adding that since the sacrilegious act began, her father had been giving her N200 as pocket money to school.
Unsure of who to confide in, she said she told her mother during one of her visits only for the father to dismiss the claim, stating that he could not bring himself that low as to having carnal knowledge of his biological daughter.
But the bubble burst after she summoned courage to tell her head teacher, who invited the police.

Nigerian Businessman, Anthony Chinedu amongst six Nigerians Deported from Kenya

Controversial Nigerian businessman Anthony Chinedu who has been facing criminal charges has been deported from Kenya.
Chinedu is among six Nigerians who were deported on Monday from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for being in the country illegally.
They were arrested from their houses on Sunday night in a police operation following reports they were involved in “dirty” businesses.
Sources at JKIA said they were all put on an international airline after being warned against being violent if and when they are there.
“Five of them have been deported and they are no longer in the country,” said a senior security official at the airport.
Nairobi Area head of CID Nicholas Kamwende confirmed the deportation.
Chinedu was facing a number of criminal cases and was in April arrested in his house with 10 grammes of heroin that he is believed to have either been using or wanted to traffic.
