A wanted robbery suspect, Abiodun Ogunjobi, aka Abbey Godogodo, who was said to have been terrorising the South-West for some time, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command.
According to police authorities, the suspect led the gang that killed seven people, including the owner of 04 Hotel, Ajah, Lagos, Olanrewaju Subair, on July 7, 2013.
They also killed two other security guards at a popular hotel along Apapa Road, Ebute Meta area of the state on the same day.
The suspect, who was paraded on Thursday, said he has killed many policemen, adding that he had been into robbery for over 10 years and had built houses.
Ogunjobi said, “I started robbery in 1996 but in 1999, I was charged for fighting. I spent about seven years in prison. My prolonged stay in prison for minor crime of fighting hardened me and I vowed to pay back the police for that injustice. After I was released, I went to Katangowa in Iyana-Ipaja area of Lagos to meet my friend, Odun.
“Odun was an armed robber, so, we started operating together. We worked with several gangs and I invested lots of my money in arms buying. I also built five houses in Ifo, Ilaro, Ikorodu and Ibadan. I usually kill policemen and take their rifles because policemen have killed several of my boys and taken most of my rifles from them.

Some teenage secondary school students across Delta State have taken to lesbianism, and are taking the abhorred act to public and private schools, as well as nooks and crannies in the State.
Leadership Friday reliably gathered that these teenage lesbians have formed themselves into a cult called Missing in Action, a fraternity which has been alleged to possess deadly charms and weapons.
Sources squealed that six popular public secondary schools in the Warri/Asaba area (names withheld) allegedly have the highest number of members, who are sent out almost on a daily basis to woo unsuspecting primary school girls to be part of them.
Police spokesman in the State, ASP Lucky Uyabeme, confirmed that last week 16 girls were arrested around Umuagu/Ogbeke Square celebrating in a hotel (name withheld) after their initiation. Uyabeme disclosed that upon interrogation, the girls confessed to being lesbians introduced into the new cult. They were subsequently arraigned at the Magistrate Court III, Asaba.

How my mother sold my baby – 17-year-old girl

Seventeen-year-old Blessing Godspower, on Wednesday narrated how her mother sold her (Blessing) eight-month-old baby.
The mother, Onyinyechi Nwabueze, 38, was paraded by the police at the ‘A’ Division of the Plateau State Police Command.
Policemen from the division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Mr. Victor Dimkpa, a Chief Superintendent of Police, had rescued the baby, Chiamaka, in Awka, the Anambra State capital.
The story was exclusively reported by PunchMetro on Friday.
Blessing, who was staying with her mother at Rukuba Road area of Jos North, was allegedly put in the family way by her boyfriend.
After Chiamaka was delivered, Godspower’s mother, who was not comfortable with the development allegedly decided to get rid of the baby.
According to Blessing, on July 19, her mother sent her on a phony errand in order to effect the “diabolical” act.

Policemen at Bode Thomas division of Lagos State command, Tuesday, arrested a woman who allegedly set her 11-year-old house maid ablaze in Surulere area of Lagos, for stealing a piece of meat from her pot of soup.
The maid identified as Ita Bassey-Eno who reportedly escaped death by the whiskers, is currently at the Burns and Trauma Centre of the Gbadaga General Hospital, with doctors battling to save her life.
Although her mistress, a staff nurse at an undisclosed hospital in Surulere, Mrs Nkese Iroakazi, reportedly denied the allegation at the police station, the ailing girl was said to have managed to state that she allegedly poured kerosene on her before striking a stick of matches to set her on fire.

Teacher Docked for Impersonating Fashola’s, Aregbesola’s Wives

A 53- year-old teacher on Grade Level 10, Asogbon Victoria Abosede, was Thursday, arraigned before Lagos Chief Magistrate’s Court One, sitting in Ikeja, for allegedly impersonating the first lady of Lagos State, Dame Abimbola Fashola.
The defendant was said to have sent text messages between June and July to the Chairman of Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area of Lagos by falsely presenting herself as first lady of Lagos State and obtained N100, 000 from the chairman.
The defendant who is facing a 10-count charge of impersonation and fraud, preferred against her by the Lagos State government, was docked before Chief Magistrate Eniola Fabamwo.
The prosecutor, Attorney General of Lagos State, Ade Ipaye, told the court that the accused committed the alleged crime between the months of June and July 2013, by also sending text messages to one Gbolahan Khadijat Daudu, who is the Chairman, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Maryland in Ikeja area of Lagos.

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 45-year old man, Toyin Sodimu, for allegedly raping his 16-year-old daughter in Temidire community of Oke Apo, Akomoje, Abeokuta.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement that the teenager reported the incident to the Adatan Police Division after her father raped her about 2am last Saturday.
Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said following Sodimu’s arrest, the 16-year old girl had been taken to the hospital by the police for medical examination and treatment.
He added that the state Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, had ordered an investigation into the incident and vowed that the suspect would be prosecuted to serve as deterrent to others.
The statement read in part, “The policemen attached to Adatan Divisional Headquarters in Abeokuta, Ogun State, have arrested one Toyin Sodimu in Temidire community of Oke Apo, Akomoje Abeokuta after he raped his own daughter, aged 16 year on Saturday.

NDLEA arrests 41 Suspects with N2.3bn worth of drugs

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos on Monday said it arrested 41 suspected drug traffickers in the first half of 2013.
NDLEA said in a statement issued by its spokesman, Mitchell Ofoyeju, in Lagos that it recovered drugs valued at N2.3 billion.
It said, "We have apprehended 41 suspected drug traffickers with 253.390kg of narcotics with an estimated street value of N2.3 billion.
The drugs were intercepted between January and June 2013. Those arrested include 39 males and two females.
"The command also won 53 cases most of which were charged to court in 2012. In the first half of the year, the airport command successfully seized 253.390kg of various illegal drugs.

Edo police parade pastor who defiled two 11-yr-old girls

The Edo State Police Command, Thursday, paraded 32 suspected criminals involved in robbery, kidnapping, cultism, including one Eze Fidelis, a pastor with a Pentecostal church in Abudu, Orhiomnwon Local Government Council, who defiled two underage girls.
Among the suspects were also three rapists and four persons including a woman involved in robbing unsuspecting passengers using commercial vehicles (popularly known as one chance).
The Edo State Police Commissioner, Mr Funso Adebanjo, who paraded them, yesterday, also displayed cache of arms recovered from the suspects.
CP Adebanjo who said the command had apprehended over 90 suspected robbers and kidnappers in the past one month, lamented rising cases of defilement of minors in the state. He warned residents to be wary of the latest trends whereby people use taxis to rob unsuspecting passengers.

20-yr-old school dropout stabs school prefect to death

A 20-year-old man Godwin Odu, has been arrested by the police in Calabar for allegedly stabbing Boniface Odinaka, a student of Army Day Secondary School, 3 Amphibious Brigade, Eburutu Barracks, Calabar to death.
Odinaka, who was the Labour Prefect of the school, was attacked for confiscating the sandals of another student, Francis Etim.
He was said to have engaged the services of Odu who was his friend and an alleged cultist.
Odu who is from Akwa Ibom State, is currently detained at the state Criminal Investigation Department, CID, Diamond Hill, Calabar.
On why he killed Odinaka, he said his friend, Francis Etim, asked him to assist him recover a pair of sandals which Odinaka seized over alleged improper dressing.
Asked if he knew the name of the Labour Prefect, Odu said they laid ambush with Etim for Odinaka at the school gate waiting for closing hour when students were returning home.
In a statement at the Homicide Unit of the state CID, Odu confirmed that he attacked Odinaka from the rear and as the SSS II boy struggled to free himself, it resulted to a fight which caused his death.

124 bags of Indian hemp found in Borno Church


The Joint Task Force, JTF, in Borno State, on Wednesday, said it arrested Pastor Moses Edon of the Celestial Church of Christ, at the House of Assembly Quarters in Maiduguri, with 124 bags of Indian Hemp.
JTF in a statement made available to DailyPost said the alleged Indian Hemp dealer was arrested based on information and intelligence.
JTF said its raid of the church at about 9.30 a.m on 10th July, 2013, led to the discovery and seizure of 124 bags of weeds suspected to be Indian Hemp parked in 3 rooms at the premises of the church.
“The suspect who is a pastor of the church, one Moses Edon admitted knowledge of the content of the bags and confessed that the Indian Hemp was brought for safe keeping from Ondo by a member of the church, one Mr Segun Oni.” JTF said.

A woman identified as Mrs Aminot Otun has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for roasting the right hand of her seven-year-old step-son, Awwal Otun.
Awwal’s hand was allegedly roasted for adding drops of liquid disinfectant to his bath water.
According to Ngozi Ekwerike-Okoro, President, Child to Child Network, a Non-governmental Organisation, NGO, a distressed call from one of Otun’s neighbours at 59, Suenu Street, Surulere, Lagos saved Awwal’s life.
Awwal was rushed to the Mother and Child Hospital at Gbaja where another drama ensued as the doctor on duty refused to treat or admit the boy despite pleas that the hospital was built purposely for mothers and children in the state.
Awwal was later taken to a nearby private hospital for treatment and he is currently at Juvenile Welfare Centre of Alakara Police Station.

Driver kidnaps Chinese to avenge colleague’s sacking

A 33-year-old driver, Taiwo Aduloju, who was recently arrested for kidnapping a Chinese employee of ZTE Nigeria Ltd, has said he took the action to avenge the sacking of his colleague.
Aduloju was arrested alongside nine others-, Jimoh Olalere, Rotimi Segede, Michael Sunday, Chigozie Edeh, Adeyinka Jagbojagbo, Kabiru Jagbojagbo, Adeshina Mutiu, Ope Dada and Ufot Akan- in Ajah area of Lagos State.
Adeloju, a former driver at the company, said, “The head of the drivers, who we call Papa, was sacked unjustly by the company. He was given only N15, 000 as severance package. I decided that I would avenge this injustice meted out to Papa.”
The suspect said with the connivance of 14 others, he was able to kidnap a senior Chinese employee of the company, Mr. Kuang Yingjun. He said the plan was to get a ransom of N35m so that Papa would be given part of the money.

An angry mob has set three suspected armed robbers ablaze in Ikotun, Lagos State.
PUNCH Metro learnt on Thursday that the robbers were set on fire on Wednesday evening, shortly after robbing a recharge card trader at Second Junction bus stop on Governor’s Road.
Our correspondent, who visited the area, observed burnt tyres, carcass of a burnt motorcycle and some human flesh on the side of the road.
The recharge card trader, Ese Akporhono, who had a bandage on her head, told our correspondent that the robbers came to her shop posing as customers.
She said a few seconds later, the suspects pointed a gun at her and stole recharge cards worth ₦400,000 before fleeing.
She said, “Around 5pm, I was closing the shop when the men approached me saying they wanted to buy recharge card.

Police arrest guard over killing of LAUTECH student

The Oyo State Police Command, yesterday, paraded one of the suspects allegedly involved in the killing of a student of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho, Miss Seun Adaramoye. The remains of the student was said to have been discovered on June 20, this year by a passer-by beside a guest house at Ogbomoso. The police gave the name of the suspect as Alex Akinyemi, a security man at the guest house. While speaking with newsmen at the Oyo State Criminal Investigation Department, CID, Iyanganku, Ibadan, Assistant Commissioner of Police, CID Unit, Dansuki Galadanchi, said the suspect was exposed by the closed circuit television, CCTV. He said: “When the owner of the guest house heard about the incident, he called the CCTV engineer to play back the recordings of the camera. He saw where one of his security men named Alex Akinyemi carried the corpse and reported the matter to the police. According to him, “the security guards, Dauda Aliyu and Samuel Ojo were arrested. When the film was played, we identified the person in the film as Alex Akinyemi who was in charge of the guest house on the day. After the arrest of the guard, the police boss said the corpse of the student was later moved to LAUTECH for post mortem examination. Galadanchi said the other suspect in the case, Charles Segun Aregbesola, who is at large, would soon be arrested. The suspect, Akinyemi, said: “I have been working as a security guard in this guest house for over two months, and I only know this Segun aka police as a resident of that area before I saw him dropping the corpse around 8am that day. He threatened to kill me with an axe he was holding that day if I report to the police and promised to give me ₦500,000, but he did not give me till now. Also paraded was one Wajud Akande for alleged conspiracy, stealing and conversion of goods worth N1.2 million.

A suspected drug trafficking syndicate at the Murtala Muhammed International airport Wednesday abandoned cocaine-weighing 5.9 kilogrammes
The drug was detected by men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos led by its commander, Mr. Hamza Umar.
The drug was carefully hidden inside industrial equipment originated from Panama, Central America. The discovery was made just as a suspected drug trafficker excreted 54 wraps of cocaine he ingested in Brazil.
NDLEA Commander at the Lagos Airport, Hamza Umar said the cocaine consignment was left unclaimed.

JTF Arrests Traditional Ruler and three others for Crude Oil Theft

The Joint Task Force (JTF), Operation Pulo Shield, has arrested a traditional ruler (names Withheld) and three others for alleged oil theft.
The suspects were arrested for stealing 2,000 metric tonnes of crude oil on Akassa waterways in Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
They were said to have allegedly used an unregistered vessel to steal the product.
The monarch, a third-class chief, according to the state’s ranking of traditional rulers, hails from Twon Brass.
He was said to have been apprehended after crew members arrested in the vessel named him as their main sponsor.
A security source said JTF had been trailing the monarch before his arrest.

An unidentified 54-year-old man in Crossville, Tennessee was robbed while he was distracted by a woman swimming nude in his backyard pool on Saturday.
According to CNHI News, a woman and a man approached the victim's home, but the woman sent her male accomplice away to get some cigarettes. The woman then asked the victim if she could swim naked in his pool, which he agreed to.
The victim and the woman spent 20 minutes in his backyard while she skinny dipped. However, her male friend never returned with the cigarettes because he was inside robbing the man's house, say police.

After she dried herself off, the woman put on her clothes and left. That's when the victim went back into his house and realized his jewelry, medications and a handgun had been stolen.

A suspected fraudster who resides in Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, Olayinka Salau, tried to avoid trial by fleeing from an Ejigbo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos Lagos and jumping into a canal under a heavy rainfall.
The suspect caught the court officials unawares when he escaped while entering the court room.
The 35-year old Salau was, however, re-arrested by the Investigating Police Officer, IPO, Akinkumi Muni, who also jumped into the canal and brought him back to the court for prosecution.
As the suspect fled the court, Muni ran after him and jumped into the canal with the suspect where they both engaged in a scuffle as the IPO tried to stop him from escaping.
Salau was initially arrested by the police at Area ‘M’ Command, Idimu, for allegedly stealing ₦430,000 belonging to his lover, Afunku Adeshola.

Man Allegedly Tortures Son To Death, Buries Corpse In Front Of House In Lagos

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 34-year-old man, Arogundade Ahmed for allegedly flogging his son to death.
Arogundade, on June 27, 2013, reportedly tortured his 13-year-old son, Qudus, to death because he broke into someone’s house and attempted to steal.
Arogundade was said to have killed his son in the presence of his little sister, Sherifat.
After allegedly killing the teenager, who was an apprentice at a mechanic workshop in the area, Arogundade dug a grave and buried him in front of his house in Alogba Estate area of Ikorodu.
According to Punch Metro, Qudus broke into the house of one Apoti Lateef in an attempt to steal but was caught and handed over to his master, Idowu Gabriel, by the house owner.
The deceased was tied up and handed over to his father, who took him home and punished him by flogging him with barbwire, sticks and other objects for about five hours.
As the beating continued, Qudus started getting weak and later died.

A former employee of Access Bank Nigeria Plc Nnaemeka Onyegbule is standing trial at the Ebute Meta Magistrate’s court for allegedly stealing $200,000 (about N32m) out of the $1m being transferred by the bank’s bullion van from Abuja to Lagos.
Onyegbule, who was until his dismissal the bullion service team leader, was said to have taken the money from the Ladoke Akintola branch of the bank in Abuja.
He was said to have boarded a Lagos-bound plane with the money.
The Access Bank Internal Auditor, Mr. Boniface Egege, in his evidence before the court, said the accused told the bank he realised $200,000 was missing on his arrival in Lagos.
He said, “On July 17, 2012, around 12.30 in the afternoon, we got a call from one of our unit heads that the defendant (Onyegbule) ,who was supposed to bring $1m from Abuja to Lagos, has just called to report that $200,000 was missing.
