The Thorium Car: A Car That Runs For 100 Years Without Refueling [VIDEO]

If your car was powered by thorium, you would never need to refuel it. The vehicle would burn out long before the chemical did. The thorium would last so long, in fact, it would probably outlive you. That's why a company called Laser Power Systems has created a concept for a thorium-powered car engine. The element is radioactive, and the team uses bits of it to build a laserbeam that heats water, produces steam, and powers an energy-producing turbine.

See the World's Most Expensive Car – a Golden Lamborghini [PHOTOS & VIDEO]

The world's most expensive car made with gold and precious gems will come with a staggering price tag of 4.6 million pounds when it goes for auction next year.
The smaller prototype of the Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4, designed by German engineer Robert Gulpen, is on display in Dubai and costs 200,000 pounds.
However, a fully-working version of the car will go under the hammer in 2014 with an estimated price of a whopping 4.6 million pounds, the 'Independent' reported.
The prototype car is made of carbon fibre and covered in a thin layer of pure gold. The rest of the bodywork contains 25 kilogrammes of precious metal and is carved out of a 500-kilogramme block of 22-carat gold.
The full-sized car will have a V12 engine producing 700 bhp, the report said.
The car will enter the Guinness Book of World Records under three categories, including the most expensive model car, the most secure showcase that features bulletproof windows and the most luxurious logo.

Meet Nobel Prize-winning Scientist Peter Higgs, who doesn't use mobile phone or computer

Peter Higgs, who discovered the ‘God particle’ Higgs boson phenomenon with Dr. Francois Englert, has revealed that he doesn’t own a cell phone or a computer by choice.
According to CBS News, the professor at the University of Edinburgh was unaware of his Nobel win as he was on a vacation when the Royal Swedish Academy made the public announcement. At a press conference at the University, Higgs said that he first got to know about the win when his neighbor congratulated him after he returned from his break.

Higgs added that he heard more about his win when he got home and started reading the messages.

Mystery solved, White Tiger coat caused by Single Gene Mutation

Mystery solved, White Tiger coat caused by Single Gene Mutation

The spectacular white coats of white tigers are caused by a single change in a known pigment gene, a new study has found.
The research, to be published in the June issue of Current Biology, might help end decades of speculation that the trait is a genetic defect.
Researchers from China's Peking University mapped the genomes of a family of 16 tigers living in Chimelong Safari Park in southern China, including both white and orange individuals. They then sequenced the whole genomes of each of the three parents in the family.
In the end, the researchers found the white tiger carries a variant of a pigment gene called SLC45A2, which had already been associated with light coloration in modern Europeans and in other animals, including horses, chickens, and fish.
The variant of the gene primarily inhibits the synthesis of red and yellow pigments but has little to no effect on black, which explains why white tigers still show characteristic dark stripes, the researchers said.
