NIGERIAN TOP DIPLOMAT IN SHOOTOUT WITH ROBBERS IN SOUTH AFRICA




Kiyo: Cases of attempted murder and attempted robbery was opened on Wednesday following a shooting incident involving Nigeria’s deputy ambassador to South Africa and his wife outside a private residence in Monument Park.
Between 6am and 7am on Wednesday, the deputy ambassador, his wife and their driver arrived at the residence in Orient Street.
 As the vehicle entered the property, another vehicle stopped behind the deputy ambassador’s car.
An attacker got out of the other vehicle and opened fire on the deputy ambassador’s vehicle.
“The deputy ambassador’s driver returned fire and was shot in the hand during the shoot-out.
“The deputy ambassador and his wife were not injured,” said Brigadier Phuti Setati, acting national head of corporate communications for the SAPS.
