Oritsefemi Majemite, simply known as Oritse Femi, in a recent interview with Vanguard, talks about his journey from the shanty settlements of Ajegunle to limelight; and how Timaya sees him as a threat.

Excerpts

If you hadn’t hit the limelight would you have still remained in Ajegunle full time?

I will move to anywhere in the world. Like I said earlier on, the world is like a circle you must learn how to move around but ‘Aje’ is still my hood and I still have a belief in it.

What inspired ‘Mercies of Da Lord’?

I was born and brought up in the ways of the Lord but because of worldly things, I derailed. But my mum, who is highly religious and Godly, brought it back. There was a low time in my life when I felt so depressed but my mum with her inspiration woke the spirit of God back in me. I was so filled with the spirit to the extent I never thought possible.

Pop singer Katy Perry believes in a “higher power” but she thinks there is no heaven or hell.

In an interview with the U.S. edition of Marie Claire, the 29-year-old songbird,  — who was raised in a devout Christian home — claims she no longer believes in a single religion. Her pronouncement will no doubt send her minister father’s head spinning.

“I don’t believe in a heaven or a hell, or an old man sitting on a throne. I believe in a higher power bigger than me because that keeps me accountable,” she told the magazine. “Accountability is rare to find, especially with people like myself, because nobody wants to tell you something you don’t want to hear.”

Singer Timi Dakolo and his beautiful wife Busola welcomed a baby girl yesterday, Dec 25^th. The singer announced this on his twitter timeline few hours back, “I have the perfect christmas gift...A CHRISTMAS BABY yesterday,” he said.

This is the Idol West Africa winner’s third child with Busola.

I fasted for 10 months to become governor – Amaechi

Rivers State Governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, Rotimi Amaechi has said God, and not man, installed him as the state governor because he fasted and prayed for 10 months before he became the governor.

Amaechi said rather than chase criminals away from the state, the police had decided to shoot innocent citizens.

The governor, who spoke at Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, said insecurity in the state was growing because the police had failed to do their job in an unbiased manner.

Maintaining that his government was installed by Jesus Christ, Amaechi urged the people to disregard those who claimed to be responsible for his emergence as the governor of the state.

When Erica Campbell of the ‘Mary Mary’ gospel music group posted a new photo of herself on her Instagram page to announce her recent Grammy nomination for "A Little More Jesus," few could have predicted the firestorm it would spark in the Christian community. In the now infamous photo, Campbell is wearing a figure-hugging white dress that shows off her curves.

More than a week later, the Gospel singer’s photo is still a trending topic, with many saying the dress is not fit for a Gospel artist.

“I'm taking it in stride and I'm keeping it moving,” Campbell tells Essence.com. “When we took the picture I felt beautiful, I felt confident, I felt sexy and I felt strong.”

“I thought I looked cute,” she says jokingly, “but it obviously offended some people, which was never my intention.”

The beef between self-styled, Africa rapper number one, MI Abaga and “maga don pay” crooner, Kelly Handsome seems to have expired.

Another Music Video Director Loses Dad

Just few days ago, it was reported that video director, Sesan Ogunro’s dad was killed on his way back from church – so sad. Another music video director, Mr Moe Musa has also announced the death of his father.

Moe Musa who is currently in the UK stated that the sad news occurred on Saturday, December 21, 2013 in a ‘horrific accident’ in Nigeria.

‘Still can’t believe it, such a sudden accident and now you’re gone, just like that. This is my Father and he passed away yesterday morning in Nigeria due to a horrific accident. May your Soul Rest in Eternal peace…..Love You Dad #CherishedEveryMoment’, Moe Musa wrote on his Instagram page as he posted a photo of himself and his dad.

Mother Attempts to Kill Day Old Baby to Cover illicit Affair

A housewife who cheated on her husband and got pregnant has been arrested by the police at Ajegunle Divisional Headquarters, Mile 12, Lagos, after she delivered a baby and attempted to throw it into a soak-away pit.

The housewife, Fatimoh Adekoya, 29, was caught by her husband on Saturday, 21 December, after placing the baby together with the placenta beside a soak-away in front of their house at 27, Ifelodun Street, Weighbridge, Owode-Onirin, Mile 12, Lagos.

Fatimoh, a mother of three, delivered the baby herself around 4 a.m. on Saturday and wrapped it with a cloth along with the placenta and placed it beside the soak-away.

Her husband, Quadri Mayowa Adekoya, who claimed he did not know that his wife was pregnant, said he saw blood all over her and also on the floor in the house.

Apart from the blood, he also heard a baby crying outside. He later traced the blood from his room to a Bagco sack placed beside the soak-away. The baby and placenta were wrapped with a cloth.

Catholics, CAN blast Kumuyi for calling Christmas celebration idolatory

Founder of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor WF Kumuyi is currently at the receiving end of harsh criticisms by angry Nigerians for calling Christmas celebration idolatory.

The ‘holiness’ preacher in his sermon on Saturday at the just concluded 2013 National December Retreat of the church said, “We are only gathering together because it is the holiday period and love the lord more, and rededicate ourselves more.

“When you find anybody coming in, or any leader, trying to introduce the idolatry of mystery Babylon, that they call Christmas and you want to bring all the Christmas carol saying that is the day that Jesus was born, and you don’t find that in the Acts of the Apostles or in the early church, then you don’t find that in the church either. If you don’t know that before, now you know”, he stated.

El-Rufai Loses Brother, Nephew, Others in Car Crash

A former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, has lost two of his relatives to a car accident that claimed five lives.

Two of the five deceased were el-Rufai’s immediate brother, Ibrahim and his nephew Lawal Sani- Gwandu. Sani-Gwandu was el-Rufai’s sister's eldest son. The bereaved el-Rufai via his Twitter page said he was not clear of the other three friends that died alongside his relatives in the car crash.

He stated, “Please join us in praying for the souls of my brother Ibrahim El-Rufai, my nephew Lawal Sani-Gwandu and their three friends that died today (Saturday).

Paris Saint-Germain striker, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, has warned Vincent Enyeama to be prepared to face the force of his attacking partnership with Edinson cavani, when PSG plays Lille on Sunday.

The Parisians are currently top of Ligue 1 and will play Lille, who are in third position this weekend. The Swede admitted that he has been impressed with the form of the Nigerian goalkeeper, who went 11 consecutive top-flight games without letting in a goal.

Lille has also conceded six goals in 18 minutes, but Ibrahimovic was in bullish move ahead of the crunch tie at Parc de Princes.

“I think it is a very important game,” the 32-year-old told reporters.

Three to Die by Hanging For Stealing ₦50,000

For robbing a woman of ₦50,000 at gun point, the trio of Kayode Babarinde, Akeem Haruna and Yusuf Nurudeen must die by hanging so held yesterday by the Supreme Court.

In a unanimous judgment five justices of the court upheld the concurrent judgment of both the Kwara State High Court and the Ilorin Division of the Court of Appeal.

The three convicts were charged before the Kwara state High Court in Ilorin on a two-count charge of conspiracy to commit armed robbery and armed robbery contrary to section 97 of the Penal Code and Section 1(2) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap R 11 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.

They were alleged to have robbed one Mrs Ruth Alabi of the sum of ₦50,000 while armed with a locally made pistol on 18/8/2007 at Baba Oloya Street, Jebba.

With your experience as governor, what would you say about godfatherism?

Well, a godfather has many connotations. You could have positive godfathers and negative ones. The good ones work towards making things work and succeed but if you have a godfather that is always challenging, he wants to make appointments, if you have 10 commissioners, he would want to have three or four. After you have given him two commissioners, he will say he wants Special Advisers, Special Assistants and he will even want to choose their portfolios but I said these things are not done like that and they said it is done like that, that is controversy.

I suffered from depression in Governor Chime’s house – Clara opens up [VIDEO]

Estranged wife of the Enugu State Governor, Clara Chime, has finally opened up on her ordeal at the Enugu state government house.

In an interview with Channels Television, Clara said she would rather prefer not to reveal everything she and her son went through in the hands of her former husband, Chime.

“I suffered from depression and the treatment I got from my husband led to it,” she said.

She also thanked Nigerians for coming to her rescue, expressing her joy that she is “now liberated.”
