Python Escapes from Pet Shop and Strangles Two Chilren in Their Sleep [PHOTOS]

Two children aged five and seven were killed after a giant python escaped from a pet store and strangled them to death while they were asleep.

The tragic incident took place in New Brunswick city of Campbellton, Canada when the brothers Connor and Noah Barth were sleeping in their room.

The 16-foot African Rock Python, which lived in a pet store below their apartment, escaped from its cage and slid upstairs inside the boy's room through the ventilation ducts and crept onto the ceiling.

The boys had come to stay for the night with Jean-Claude Savoie, owner of the Reptile Ocean pet store which houses exotic animals, including crocodiles and tarantulas. The children belonged to Savoie's best friend Mandy Trecartin.

This was revealed in the latest webometric ranking conducted by a world renowned research council, Cybermetrics Lab, which is based in Spain.

Kiyoandfilo learnt that in the list of ten best universities in Arica, South African universities occupies the first to third position; they also held on to the fifth, sixth,seventh and ninth position. Meanwhile, Makerere University of Uganda occupies the fourth position, while Cairo University of Egypt is the tenth best university in Africa.

Auchi Polytechnic, University of Ibadan and University of Lagos ranked 23, 24 and 25 in Africa, while University of Ghana ranked 18.

10yrs old Nigerian girl makes FORBES Magazine history

Ten year-old Nigerian girl Zuriel Oduwole has made history as the youngest person ever to be interviewed in Forbes, the global iconic magazine title.

The interview with the award winning documentary film maker, conference speaker and writer is featured in the August 2013 edition of Forbes Africa.

Touted by some as the next Larry King, and ARISE News at the next Oprah Winfrey, Oduwole is reportedly committed to Rebrand Africa by showing the positive things in about the continent, and making the case for education the Girl Child in Africa and Emerging Markets.

Zuriel (which is Hebrew for God is my Rock) believes if she can walk a mile, then there are girls who on seeing her work and progress made, would walk a mile and half.

Olamide Parts Ways With Manager Tony Nwakalor

Rapper Olamide has reportedly dropped manager Tony Nwakalor.

Reports on the internet claim that the YBNL chief was dissatisfied with Tony Nwakolor’s dedication to his career, with the latter reportedly paying more time to D’banj who he also manages.

He is now reportedly being manged by a female who goes by the name of Racheal.

Nwakalor who now runs 1805 Entertainment and Olamide started working together in August, 2011 after the rapper stopped working with his former manager, Toni Payne.

NEWS UPDATE: 35 Die as Nigerian Army and Boko Haram Clash

At least 35 people have been killed in two separate gun battles between Nigerian security forces and Islamist sect Boko Haram in northeast Borno state, the army said on Monday.

Boko Haram gunmen on Sunday attacked a police base in Bama, a town close to the Cameroon border that has been frequently hit by violence in recent months.

"Troops have successfully repelled Boko Haram terrorist attacks on a police base in Bama ... on 4 August," said military spokesman Sagir Musa.

Musa said one policeman and 17 members of Boko Haram were killed during the fighting, while two soldiers were injured.

He said four trucks, three motorbikes, dozens of explosive devices, three rocket-propelled grenades, 10 AK47 rifles and over 100 rounds of ammunition were recovered from the Islamists.

Boko Haram members also attacked a military base in the town of Malam Fatori, triggering a gun battle that left two soldiers and 15 of its members dead, Musa said.

Just two years old, the best man, Logan, is the son of the bride and groom, Christine Swidorsky and Sean Stevenson. The pair, who also have a one-year-old daughter together, wanted to share their special day with Logan, who is sick with a rare genetic disease and has been given just weeks to live.

At last, Peter Capaldi is revealed as the next 'Doctor Who' star

After months of speculation since Matt Smith announced that he was exiting the long-running British show Doctor Who, the BBC has announced the latest actor who will be taking on the role. In a live television announcement, with several previous stars on hand, it was revealed that Peter Capaldi will be portraying the newest incarnation of The Doctor.

Capaldi, 55 is a Scottish actor best known as Doctor Malcolm Tucker from BBC comedy ‘The Thick of It’.

Capaldi, who is the 12th actor to play the Doctor, said he was filming a BBC adaptation of The Three Musketeers in Prague when he found out.

“I had my phone on silent so I missed the call,” he said.

It was his agent, who greeted him with the phrase “Hello Doctor”.

“I started to laugh and haven't stopped laughing since,” Capaldi added.

Police arrest 3 for hurriedly burying an 18 year old boy

Police in Ondo State have arrested three persons for hurriedly burying an 18 year old boy, Sanmi Kehinde who allegedly shot himself dead with his father’s gun.

Kehinde reportedly shot himself last Wednesday with his father’s dane gun at Oriokuta community in Akoko South East council area of Ondo State.

The Police image maker in the state, Wole Ogodo said the family of the deceased did not make any formal report to the police before they hurriedly buried him.

Ogodo said detectives in the state police have commenced investigation to unravel the circumstance that could lead to the death of the teenager.

He said the report of the autopsy is still being awaited by the police.

According to him:  “Immediately the incident happened neither the family nor the neighbours reported the case to the police before they went ahead to bury the deceased, that is why the police arrested some people on the incident.

How challenging is the job of producing Hausa movies?

Most times, challenges come up when you don’t do your homework the way it should be done. I don’t produce more than one or two movies a year and I do a lot of pre-production planning before going on set. That removes all the challenges.

It seems just a handful of producers are from the north

Yes. There are just a couple of us. The reason could be cultural barriers; people seem to be just contented with what they do and they don’t want to branch out into wider areas.

How did you break into the English movie sector?

When I first started appearing in the English movies, the challenge I had was the perception of my people. Most people misunderstood what I was trying to do. But with time, when the movies started coming out, they became acquainted with what I was trying to do.

How did you meet?

Was it hard for you to woo her?

Terror Alert: US Shuts 21 Embassies

Amid warnings over a fresh planned attack on Western targets, United States officials in Washington and diplomats in US postings around the world were on high alert at the weekend, leading to the closure of 22 embassies and travel alert to American citizens in the Arabian Peninsula.

The British Broadcasting Corporation reported Saturday that the United States is not the only one worried by the latest threat to peace. The United Kingdom, French, and German embassies in Yemen will also be shut Sunday and Monday.

The uneasiness was coming on the heels of warnings that fresh intelligence points to Yemen-based al-Qaida being on the final stages of planning an attack on Western targets.

The warning is specifically tied to Yemen.

According to a report by Associated Press, President Barack Obama’s counterterrorism adviser updated him on the potential al-Qaida threat before he left Saturday for a round of golf in Maryland to kick off his 52nd birthday celebration last weekend, officials said.
